    can I keep this going?

What a great day Hana! I had a really good day yesterday too, although today readings have been a bit higher. Fantastic result after having a pasta meal! Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (64), average BS now between 5 and 6 mmol.

    The bread isle

I'm looking forward to seeing Slesser's recipe (hint, hint, Slesser....!) but in terms of getting slices, I find that quite easy with my microwave bread recipe I mix 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of oil, two tablespoons of ground flaxseed (i pref golden because it gives a more bread like appearance) and...

    Fats

Parsley - I would just make sure that you are eating some healthy fats with every meal, and let your appetite be the guide. I think counting carbs is quite enough to be getting on with: reduce your carbs, include things like olive oil, butter, avocado, cheese in your meal plans and see what...

    Low carb bread

Umm..no offense to your nurse, but I think if I was going to take somebody's advice, it would be a hospital consultant and not a nurse who has perhaps done a one week course on diabetes and got a certificate! Lack of carbs does NOT cause kidney failure. The spurious relationship to kidneys...

    soba noodles

But interestingly, that site did seem to suggest that they were significantly lower in carbs than some noodles (10g per ounce uncooked as opposed to rice noodles at 22g per ounce, or some other type (can't remember which now) at 37g per ounce. I'm away from home and so can't get a mental picture...

    Blood glucose levels

On this occasion, I would actually try to follow your nurses recommendation if you can, if you are Type 2 The 10mmol is for *type 1 children* after meals - it's not that 10 is a great level in itself, but its to avoid the risk of hypos. Similarly with the 9 for type 1 adults. For Type 2...

HOW CAN THEY PUT ME INTO ESA WRAG GROUP WHEN MY WIFE IS CARE

Re: HOW CAN THEY PUT ME INTO ESA WRAG GROUP WHEN MY WIFE IS I think the DWP would be quite happy not to pass your info on to ATOS if you were quite happy not to get any benefits :( Part and parcel of it, I'm afraid. ATOS are not nice. Even if they seem nice, they are not nice. Best to be...

    soba noodles

Ewelina - did you test after the noodles then? Is that why you think asda made a mistake?

    soba noodles

Yes, zero noodles are kind of ok - they taste of absolutely *nothing*, but then, so do rice noodles. They are slightly more rubbery in texture but not unbearably so. Really, my main objection is the price - they are about £2.50 for one small packet. You can get them in H&B.

    soba noodles

Still can't believe I missed them. You know what it is? I don't think I even go down noodle and pasta aisles. My main obsession is crispbread lol. I simply can't believe that there isn't a crispbread or oatcake that is low enough in carbs for me, so I keep obsessively checking!

    5.1

And two hours after Chinese takeaway..... 5.5 :) Out of interest, it was 8.5 after one hour. I don't normally do one hour readings but I was interested to know the progress of something so very different to what I normally eat

    SD Codefree meter

Gary, I think the problem is that GP's won't prescribe them, not that people are having to pay at the chemist. Once you have a prescription yes, they are free. But GPs aren't *obliged* to write prescriptions for test strips for type 2's (I'm lucky, mine does) Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Need some help.

Julie The colors of the pots aren't going to help you much, because practically every blood test on the planet is done in a purple or gold pot lol Purple is mostly used for "haematology" - that means his full blood count, iron levels, white cell count. Possibly HbA1c would be in a purple as...

    Thrush and type 2 diabetic

Quite agree. And remember, it can be passed back and forward between sexual partners, so it's no good treating one and not the other. Ladies are more prone because it is a bit *ahem* warmer, darker and moister in there. I agree about the hygiene but never ever be tempted to douche because it...

On a roll today - 4.6 waking, 5.3 after lunch which included a handful of chocolate M&M's, and 4.8 pre dinner! :) :) :) Only, in a spirit of insanity, I'm about to have Chinese takeaway! Well, if you can't have Chinese takeaway when your pre-dinner is 4.8 when can you lol? Sent from the...

    could i really have diabetes?

I'm so surprised he didn't at least do a finger prick test on the spot. It isn't a definitive way to diagnose diabetes but it can give a really good clue! THEN you can go on to more formal testing. It's probably better at ruling diabetes in than out. For example if your doctor pricked your...
