    What have you eaten today?

By the way that whole recipe is under 170 calories and less than 3 carbs. It would be more if made with milk. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    What have you eaten today?

Here's mine, inspired by yours but adapted, cos I wasn't sure about the sound of soya mince 20g ground flax seed 10g ground almonds Scoop of protein powder (mine is "cookies and cream" which is a nice neutral flavour for porridge (but chocolate sounds nice too) Teaspoon psyllium husks...

HOW CAN THEY PUT ME INTO ESA WRAG GROUP WHEN MY WIFE IS CARE

Re: HOW CAN THEY PUT ME INTO ESA WRAG GROUP WHEN MY WIFE IS Hypos with loss of consciousness are the only things that will get you points for ESA and they have to be occurring more than weekly to get you 15 points and the benefit (and even that will only get you into work related activity...

What's the deal with lamb doner?

You're quite right Sid! It was a one-off, honest! Trouble is, I wasn't at home. I was 30 miles away, on a freezing windswept street in a to-be-nameless midlands town, with kebab shops, pound shops and not much else. With 25 mins to get some lunch. I did have horsemeat on my mind, definitely...

    SD Codefree meter

Quite agree, that was my reasoning too. And don't worry about higher readings, you soon get used to them. A 5 is as exciting as a 4! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

What's the deal with lamb doner?

Falafel? Is that low carb? I've been avoiding it - I love falafel! (Off to investigate....) Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

When is a Spike a Spike

Bright station - I'd love to hear if anyone has a definitive answer cos I also want reassurance that only testing at two hours is ok. All I can say us that pretty much everything I've read, both on here and elsewhere, says to test at two hours. I think the point is that *everybody* spikes at...

    SD Codefree meter

I would go for it if I were you. I actually love my Codefree, although I have a freestyle optium as well, on prescription. I always take 1mmol off my readings. That seems to be really accurate for me, as tested against my Freestyle. Don't know about higher readings, cos I tend to be between 5...

What's the deal with lamb doner?

Good point. I always tend to think of protein as "guilt free" but I suppose it isn't (don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that eating protein is bad, just that I never really factor it in as a BG raiser. I suppose I really should , it explains a couple of other anomalous readings lately...

What's the deal with lamb doner?

Wow, that link was really useful, Catherine! Well, wouldn't you know. Rusk. No wonder I got a 7.2 for 3 hours. The fat doesn't totally totally bother me, because I am not eating a low fat diet. However, the fact that it is unhealthy fat is is more disturbing, I've tried to keep all my fat...

What's the deal with lamb doner?

I know it's a bit gross lol but for lunch that I had no option other than kebab house. They did an option of tray of lamb doner meat with salad. I thought this would be great. Meat and salad (and, shoot me, but I actually quite like lamb doner). BG before, 5.6. BG 2 hours later, 7.2! That's...

Linseed - what do you do with it?

I think I'm going to brave some porridge tomorrow. It's been a while and I truly think my insulin resistance has improved since then. I'll put lots of seeds on it as well which hopefully might help. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Linseed - what do you do with it?

Oh well to start simple then I will put some in my protein shake tomorrow morning. And then I eagerly await the muffin recipe :). I did google, but an awful lot of the recipes seemed to be for bread, and I'm not sure baking bread is something I'd want to do - for a start I'd eat it all! Sent...

Linseed - what do you do with it?

As an impulse buy when I was wandering round sainsbury's yesterday, I bought some linseed (I think that's what they are - I've thrown the packet away now cos I like things to be in pretty glass jars lol). They are slightly larger than sesame seeds but similar looking, more golden brown in color...

    Still confused...

Triglycerides should fall if you lower your carbohydrate intake - it's a myth that they come solely from fat - they are produced by the body from excess carbohydrate (ie if you eat more than you burn off). I would make cutting down on carbs a priority, especially if you are eating 200g a day...

    "Newcastle" Diet

Re: "Newcastle" Diet Frances that is fantastic!! Unbelievable how well you've done in such a short time! I bet it makes it all seem worthwhile :) Stick with it and even if there are little fluctuations upwards, as there might be, remember that you are doing an amazing job, the trend is...
