    Nighttime hypos and tongue biting

I would be very concerned if you were biting your tongue at night that you were having a serious hypo. Tongue biting usually implies some form of lost or altered consciousness (it is common in epileptic fits, for example). Do you mean that you are unawares that you have bitten your tongue until...

Hmmm, runny, well it definitely shouldn't be runny. You did use a tablespoon for the flax, not a dessert spoon? (which is what you'd use to eat your cereal). (Sorry to be patronizing lol). And they have to be fairly heaped tablespoonfuls, as well. It definitely sounds like there wasn't enough...

Newbie and question on blood sugar reaction times

Shreddies and toast could well be worse than an Italian, depending what the Italian was of course. But even if the Italian was pasta, it may have had a creamy or high fat sauce with it, which would have slowed down any spike. It might also be that because of that, your sugars may have climbed...

Lol I've just realised that I've got a back ache across the middle of my back too! Maybe that is it?! Back-related hyperglycemia ;)? Mines not from the gym though, it's from sitting around too much :( Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (11mmol)...

Oh sorry to hear that Andy :( I did learn from here that going to the gym a lot can raise your sugars temporarily. Also, are you drinking enough? Maybe if you're going to the gym you're getting a bit dehydrated and that can definitely make your readings higher. I don't think a pulled muscle...

    Cure with Stem cells available

I agree with Roman 100%. If this is genuine, why isn't it all over the news? Why are they resorting to having to advertise on the Internet? Why haven't they won a Nobel Prize? Of course they want to get you on the phone to persuade you - they know you are vulnerable. If they'd made the...

Newbie and question on blood sugar reaction times

First thing - how long "after" was it? Sugars peak at around one hour and should return to normal in around 2 hours. So if that was a one hour reading it really wasn't too bad at all. If it was a two hour reading, then yes, it might suggest that the meal had too many carbs for your body to...

Or.....possibly hand lotion? Did a three hour test and was down to 5.1. Difference was that I washed my hands properly with hot water and soap and dried them thoroughly on a paper towel. Last two readings this evening I was a bit lazy and just licked my finger, and when I'd got home from the gym...

How odd. I think something must have gone wrong, because even if it isn't like perfect bread, it definitely shouldn't be like scrambled egg. Maybe the type of flax you use was different to mine. I would say it should look a little like a cross between a crumpet and a cake - quite soft and spongy...

There's just a glimmer of a possibility, for me, that my sugars go up if I'm losing weight? I keep records of both, and I have just checked and seen that days that have had unexpected highs have also been days where I've lost weight. My records aren't perfect, because I try not to weigh myself...

PS Sugars do go up when you're ill, might you be coming down with something? Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (11mmol), now between 5 and 6 mmol. 13kg lost so far :)

Well if you want company Andy, I had a huge shock earlier when my pre dinner was 7.3 - I haven't had a pre dinner above 6 since the first week of diagnosis. Absolutely nothing to cause it, either, I'd had a bowl of zero carb chicken broth for lunch six hours previously, and had been to the gym...

Aahhh, do you mean it had bits of egg in it? Or that it was soggy? Did you toast it? Toasting is the important part Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (11mmol), now between 5 and 6 mmol. 13kg lost so far :)

Just taken advice from my mother in law on the blackberries. She says what you need to do is freeze them individually. Meaning, when you get back from blackberrying, wash them obviously, and then lay them out on a baking sheet and put the baking sheet in the freezer until they are frozen. Then...

    Working out sugar

Oh I see: that wouldn't be of any practical use as such, but is good for giving a visual idea of how much sugar something contains. What we need to know as diabetics is not how many teaspoons of sugar something contains, but how many grams of carbs (not sugars - you need to know total carbs...

True, the fruit is the best bit :) Maybe wait til the summer - fruit is bound to be cheaper then, even in Sainsburys. Also, although the yoghurt is not a slow carb breakfast (or a not much of any carb breakfast, that's the point ;) ) as long as you use full fat yoghurt, which you must, it...
