Pregnant and Hospital are being a nightmare!!

And...completely identify with the super low bg during night. My pregnancy in 2009 was full of hypos, really bad ones in the first trimester, I'd never required help from anyone else before, but needed it a few times then, make sure you have a glucagon shot in the fridge and a spare for backup...

Pregnant and Hospital are being a nightmare!!

Oh I really feel for you. Pregnancy and type 1 is a full time occupation! I really identify with the fear that you get about damaging baby...the first 8 weeks when the organs are developing are v stressful. All the hard work you're putting in now will be worth it. i know the aim is to be 7.8...

    strange readings

NOOOO don't take extra insulin after consuming carbs to treat a hypo! You'd end up hypo again! Hope someone can back me up here...you shouldn't inject extra insulin in that situation surely? Isobel, does this work for you? I have specifically been told by more than one dsn, not to have any...

Re: Anybody else on here suffer with necrobiosis lipoidica d My mum has had a patch of this on her shin since she was in her late twenties (dx type 1 @24) she's 62 now, occasionally it's got worse but then heals up and is fine for years! Only causes a bother if its knocked. Sent from the...

A Little Bit of Culture :)

Wow, whodathunkit, art lessons on a diabetes forum! LOVE IT! Love the bio's, love the little thumbnaily pics. Specifically love the snow scenes & the Hockney stuff. And the lady who painted the 30s looking kids...the Pennsylvania lady. Got a real soft spot for modern art, the lady in green is...

    Arrested for drunk and disorderly

To be fair, the OP knows the difference between high & low blood glucose levels, they didn't know what their bgl was, hence the need for dextrose, 'in case'. They should have been allowed to test, then everyone would've known what the situation was. It was only when the dr turned up, hours later...

Arrested for drunk in charge when actually Hyperglycaemic

Re: Arrested for drunk in charge when actually Hyperglycaemi Sorry, had only just read it and wanted to comment as the majority of opinions were not focused on the things that were worrying me about these police custody posts. Just wanted to put it out there. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Standard deviation

No one's ever mentioned it...just saw the term on here! It's given me a goal to aim for, to help with my worries about my swings. Feel quite positive after deciphering my numbers, thought my SD would be way higher. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Help or advice for Dawn phenomenon

Ha, I'm almost 13 years in and still learning! [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE] I used to use insulatard, a cloudy background insulin, not as modern as levemir/lantus (was pregnant/trying to get pregnant so never moved on to the modern stuff!) I somehow ended up on 24u in the...

    Standard deviation

Wow what a knowledgable lot! Thanks...so interesting. I've only just realised the SD number on my pump data is 'Standard Deviation'! I usually test at least 6 times a day, sometimes less sometimes more, so there's a lot of data to draw from. Looks like my overall average for last 7 days is...

    Where did I go wrong . . .?

Hey Dougal...how's it going? What a lovely thread you've started here! Such a lot of caring people on this forum. I've been t1 for almost 13 years, spent the first 10 years not bothered about being diabetic (bothered about control, just not bothered about having it) i was quite happy-go-lucky...

    Standard deviation

Can anyone tell me what this is in a nutshell please? I'm using a pump (accu-chek combo) and think my swings from lo to high have reduced somewhat but I keep hearing about SD. My a1c is always fine but I've always felt this is due to too many hypos (in the quest for better levels). After 13...

Help or advice for Dawn phenomenon

That's encouraging! Yeh don't increase too much too soon, but if that was me I'd try another unit or 2 on tonight. Fingers crossed this time next week you'll be waking up within range! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Arrested for drunk in charge when actually Hyperglycaemic

Re: Arrested for drunk in charge when actually Hyperglycaemi Shocking. The treatment of these 2 people (the poster above balirob & the original OP) whilst in police custody. Also shocking, some of the attitudes on here. How would you feel if for whatever reason, out of your control, your tools...

    Arrested for drunk and disorderly

Did anyone read about the 25 year old man from Taunton (I think), he was weaving in & out of traffic near his home so the police took him in & chucked him in a cell...to sober up presumably. He died in their care, he had mental health issues and had had drug problems also. His parent believe if...

    strange readings

So it sounds like that hypo was due to over correction (too much quick acting insulin)? If you had more levemir then maybe you'd be more in range on waking and wouldn't have to correct??? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Help or advice for Dawn phenomenon

...altho saying that, if it were me, reading your comments again with fresh perspective, I'd still up nighttime dose by 1 unit and monitor for 3 days, if that hasn't brought you into range then up it by another unit and monitor for 3 days again before making further adjustments. And set alarm to...

Help or advice for Dawn phenomenon

Rob...my sincere apologies, please ignore my previous post, I thought you were another poster, posting the same question but in a new thread!!!! I was referring to someone else (Carlos37 I think) - did you read their post? Also trouble with DP. Hope things improve... Sent from the Diabetes...

Help or advice for Dawn phenomenon

As per replies in your other thread, still sounds like you need MORE levimir. Just up it by one unit and monitor what happens. Set an alarm for 2-4 if you are worried. Will be worth it in the long run when you wake up in range. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
