    Unfocused eyes after laser treatment

Hy guys, I hope you have had a good Christmas. May anyone tell me if being unable to focus on anything at night, close or far away, is the new normal after having laser treatment? If so, is there any device (such as yellow lenses) to help with driving at night? I'm scared about this apparent...

    Diabetes therapy

Hi! Don't worry. I feel better just to have "talked" about my troubles with someone. I understand him as well. I'd probably be like him if I was the one going through the same. It just saddens me to see him feeling so down. It makes me feel useless not knowing how to help. Anyway, I can just...

Argon or Pascal for laser treatment of diabetic retinopathy?

If you had treatment with laser, do you know which one was used? In our trust, the argon laser is used. We read that pascal laser might have a better outcome in regards to loss of peripheral vision, but possibly cause the need for more treatment in the future. What are your thoughts and...

    Diabetes therapy

I'm so happy for you that therapy worked so well! I so wish my husband would be willing to do the same and look for some help. He's been diabetic for a very long time and is now having laser to treat retinopathy. He's been in a very low mood since he learned about the need for the treatment...

    Noctura400

Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sorry to hear you'll need more treatment. Hopefully it will be the last time. Do you think you didn't need it for six years because of the mask? If so, maybe you can get it through the NHS?

    Noctura400

What do you think about the Noctura400 mask? I've just learned about its existence and, as I'm desperate for anything that can give my husband hope to keep his eyes as healthy as possible, I am totally interested in giving it a try. However, it's quite expensive so I'm wondering if any of you...

Lighting for poor vision, plus a miracle treatment

Hi Ingrid, I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding in your eyes. Hopefully the injections will solve it. My husband had his first treatment with laser yesterday and is, understandably, pretty upset. We were told by the doctors and also read about the injections being useful only for people who...

Lighting for poor vision, plus a miracle treatment

Hi, they suggest treatment when new blood vessels start to firm in the retina, which is called proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Many people here say the best way to prevent retinopathy getting worse is tight blood glucose control. I wish you the best of luck.

    Laser treatment and driving licence

I'm not sure when his licence will expire, but I think it's soon. At first he was told only one eye needed to be treated, but after having another test, this time with dye, he was told both eyes needed it and so he started laser in both of them. What's making him more doubtful about the doctor...

    Laser treatment and driving licence

I agree. It's not only the licence, though. He actually never came to terms with having diabetes. The possibility of losing his licence is just the last thing for him to be fed up. Just a few minutes ago he threw away his glucose monitor because his BG was too low. He never acted like this...

    Laser treatment and driving licence

Thank you so much, Jaylee. It's great to know you and your friends are well after treatment and have retained your licenses! Hopefully, hearing about positive outcomes, my husband will start seeing his treatment in a better light and give up the idea of refusing to complete the laser treatment...

    Proliferative diabetic retinopathy

Hi all, Can you share your experience with laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy and the aftermath, please? My husband had his first laser session yesterday and is in desperate need for some positive stories to have hope of keeping a good range of sight and, hopefully, his driving license as...

Thank you so much. I'll follow your advice and get him to try and call the hospital. I'm glad treatment worked so well for you, and it gives me hope. Thanks again.

    Laser treatment and driving licence

Thank you for your words, Zinadane. May I ask how much your peripheral vision has been reduced? My husband now is saying he's not having more treatment because, according to the research papers he read, with argon laser it's expected a loss of only about 12%, while from 120% to 70% the loss...

    Retinopathy

Hi Jamie, I'm sorry for your diagnosis, but I suppose you'll be fine if you have good control of your blood sugar levels. My husband has been diabetic for nearly forty years and only now he needed laser treatment for retinopathy. If you're careful, you might never need it.
