    Weird start to New Year

Good point, but yes, they are validated. For the last 15 years, I have been waking every two hours after going to sleep. The Libre showed a noticably low level at the point of waking and a rise after. On occasion, I was aware of a stress reaction as well. Not really worked up about the low just...

    Weird start to New Year

Thanks, so good to know I'm not alone. My GP ignored it, my consultant prescribed Spironolactone; his registrar gave me sleeping pills (took one, still woke at 3am). Consultant tried to prescribed sleepers again in Dec. I'm so glad it's explainable. Luckily my sweats at night are now rare. I...

    Weird start to New Year

Happy New Year All What a start... Lost my FL reader and debit card - elves?? New card ordered and hope I find my reader before I need to activate next sensor. Sensor is giving odd readings since 9am, now 11.20am. Peaks and troughs between 8 & 10! No food today, since a nice trace for last...

Is a Vegetarian diet really healthier than Omnivore?

You can do most diets on processed foods if you wish, including keto. Also, I never said unnatural, I said alien. They don't mean the same thing.

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

@Alexandra100 My post too, although I'm more Piglet :p. Last but one temptation of 2019 over. BG on my Freestyle Libre (possibly low by 1-1.5) hit 7.5 @ PP1.75, 8.0 @ PP2.5 rising to a peak of 8.9 @ PP3.25 7.9 @ PP4 and thence dropped rapidly back to 5.6 (fbg) in less than 30mins. Disappointing...

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

I wish mine looked as good (and my pre-Xmas HbA1c,done twice in 1 week, was 38)

Is a Vegetarian diet really healthier than Omnivore?

I think that the discussion is focusing in the wrong areas. Vegetables grown in mineral-rich soil versus vegetarian versions of meat-eaters' processed food. The former is likely to be stable and the latter can be changed by the processor at any time. For example natural yoghurt turned into a...

    Hba1c confusion

https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/recipes/around-world This has some examples of low carb recipes from around the world that may give you some alternatives that you can get ideas from. The good news is on low-carb animal fats such as ghee and cream are OK. I would stay away from vegetable...

Have you tried just plain soda water (probably, but just thought I'd ask)?

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Repeated coffee with double cream until I ran out then butter instead. Finished off a 'well-aged' Farm Foods steak which, without veg, piqued my appetite. Another steak 2 hours later with 1 After Eight (bad, bad move today as it wacked up my BG which it didn't yesterday). Had to get some cat...

Hot bath and blood sugar levels

Multiply UK by 18 x mmol/L to get US values. I'll post both if I use any in future. It's my habit to see UK and think US anyway. Easy nos. 3.5=63, 4.0=72, 4.5=81, 5.0=90, 6.0=108, 7.0=126, 8.0=144 0.1=1.8(~2)

What do you call a ‘spike’?

To avoid the discussion on who pays for testing supplies, probably.

    Veganuary?

Read it and from what I understand they had ok-ish results for diabetic numbers and poor for weightloss with a lot of support on the vegan diet. It may be hard to follow unsupported and seems not good for weightloss. Saturated fat is required in a diet and this may be a problem long-term. The...
