    Welcome, Kay.

    Meat free.

All about market share. Appeal to vegan, vegetarians and those wanting to buy it who are or recently were meat-eaters. Food marketing is an extremely sophisticated field.

Plant Based Keto diet - anyone tried it

I got as far as NASH but it took a while from starting the fruit overload. As soon as my consultant put it in writing rather than saying my liver function was stable, I attacked it. Will see what the liver function tests say next month.

Plant Based Keto diet - anyone tried it

Be a little careful with too much fructose from anywhere including fruit. It can sneak past easily available blood markers until excess fructose producing fat deposíts are noticeable by BG raises. By that time, prediabetes may be well on the way.

Does the Freestyle Libre continuous monitoring work for type 2

Yes, I had to choose each time and restart the Libre app and the Glimp app. Just a lot of more effort for me. In contrast, the xDrip, despite other minor shortcomings updates itself and reconnect almost seamlessly all the time. My overnight issues are definitely temperature related, not...

Does the Freestyle Libre continuous monitoring work for type 2

I've been trying out the Libre, too. I have a Miaomiao as well. I find Glimp doesn't play nice with the Libre app running at the same time - possibly they both use the NFC function on my Samsung S5. xDrip+ on the other hand runs well alongside the Libre app on my phone. I hear the Samsung S8 is...

Which Blood tests are accurate at showing diabetes reversal

I wouldn't say the carbs/diabetes link is debunked - there may be a debate as to the cause and there may be different routes to T2D but there is no debate that a T2D responds to carbs in a different way to a non-diabetic that can become damaging to the body. The development of pathological...

    Now that's a worry

Yes, Ivor Cummins pushes a particular agenda. He seems to target middle-aged executives who can afford and would probably benefit most.

    HCLF for T2D

Yes, read VERY carefully... Meta analyses, by their very nature include a lot of poor studies. It includes advice for people with liver disease not to go on a VLCHF diet. We need to assess all aspects of our own diets and try to get a good 80% right for our own circumstances.

Studies... You need to listen to this before you even think about taking the latest snake oil sorry, drug.

    Now that's a worry

Funny, I've just been looking at cholesterol. The link is interesting and frightening at the same time. Are they really pushing more skewed science to push drugs? Here is an alternate view on how to interpret cholesterol.

    World Carnivore Month 2020

@Brunneria. Cracking!! The particular makeup of my LCHF diet (not found the cause yet) tended to give me dry skin. Not sure if it was temporary but I knew i'd eaten too little veg of some kind. Have been fasting and Carny since Jan 2nd 20 and no dry skin issues. Causing a little acidic issues...

    World Carnivore Month 2020

Popped down the Internet rabbit hole today and, among other things, found out this from Dave Feldman. 1/ Triglyceride levels drop to a steady baseline after >12 hrs fasted, not 8 or 9 hrs. 2/ If you have high triglycerides (measured after 12hrs fasted) try giving up coffee for a month and retest.

    HCLF for T2D

Interesting evaluation of amino acid requirements in the latter part of the presentation. Indicates that one needs to be much more careful about where you get your protein as a V/V. I also used to track protein amino acids daily when vegan but was not completely aware of protease inhibitors...

    HCLF for T2D

I am wondering if a common factor here may be the lack of PUFA. A Carnivore diet is naturally low in PUFA as is a vegetarian or vegan HCLF non-processed food diet which would avoid heavily processed oils. Add that to the V/V diet a large focus on above ground green veg plus a low focus on...

    HCLF for T2D

@Veryanxious Similar to me although I managed to get my consultant to do a random BG. it's marked on my notes as 'Random' but I know it was at least 12hrs fasted.

    HCLF for T2D

Really concerned at the comments where people are jumping on it as their salvation, generally without their own research but hey ho, been there (science-based only now); I hope it works for them.

Breaking fast with steak, & eggs. Oh and brawn & kidney, too. Maybe a tad of cambrizola cheese as it was in the reduced counter at Morrison.

Type 2 should you be given blood sugar Monitor

I have a speedometer in my car. Very few would consider driving without one. Not sure why there is so much resistance. Granted it is more accurate but economies of scale may drive serious improvements of BG meters.
