    Type 2 HBa1c levels

At least your bg levels are down and you have lost some weight. As has already been said if you are using ready meals please be very careful and read the full list of ingredients. I know I have been caught out a couple of times after choosing something I thought would be fine and then finding...

    Feeling Annoyed

Hi @garyjakings, part of the trouble is that what we have been told is a healthy diet, (low fat, 5 portions of fruit and veg etc) is based on some shaky science that was trumpeted loudly and so taken as being correct. The good news is that you can ignore the 'low fat' options because usually...

    Feeling Annoyed

Welcome to the forum. You are not alone in getting little practical advice so read around. The advice that new members get is very good. The fact that you are being given the opportunity to try to control with diet alone is promising but you have to find a diet and form of exercise that you can...

    Feeling a bit isolated.

Hi, in addition to the other good advice I suggest keeping a spreadsheet of food eaten, bg, exercise and emotions. Try foods 2x unless once gives a clear result. You may begin to spot patterns, stress from driving, particular berries giving higher bg readings than others etc.

    So confused!

Hi @Nik_C , welcome to the forum. Now that you have stood your ground you should work out a plan to achieve the same result or better than the advised increase in medication. You have made a start and there is plenty advise and support here but you are the one who has to carry it through. Also...

    Allergic reaction to Metformin

Whatever the reason you have demonstrated that your skin is reacting to something in the prescribed tablets, it may not be the metformin to blame for your reaction, it may be one of the fillers that is used to make the tablet. If you can no longer control bg with diet and exercise perhaps a...

    What is happening to me?

First welcome to the forums, read around a bit when you find the time and take it easy. There are many different things that may be affecting your blood sugars, including worrying about them! Your eyes may have got used to high levels of glucose in your blood and it may take a while for them to...

    Negativity :(

Hi @PurpleArmadillo Can't wait to read your post about your results. Ask for a printout because you don't want to waste time and no-one can be expected to make an off the cuff, considered decision. You know that the results will be better, possibly not as good as you would like but better than...

    Newly Diagnosed

Welcome @lotuslight and yes you are doing the right thing posting here. We help and support each other but understand that what works for one person does not necessarily work for all. To help you find your way through the maze of choices that are opening up to you the advice to get a meter and...

Type 2 Can Poeple with Diabetes add Honey to thier Oats for breakfast, if not what natural sweetner is ok.

You can choose to eat what you like but there are consequences. Some type 2 diabetics find that just trying porridge spikes their bg levels. Adding more sugar (honey) will only push it up further, but there are commercially available substitutes although how 'natural' they are I have not...

    Back To The Beginning...

Looking at your stats you are ahead of where you started last time, you have this group of friends and you know what you have to do. If the medication is a problem have you asked if there is an alternative? Today is a new day and we all start it back at the beginning, so dust off that meter, put...

    Regular moderate exercise log

I have been taking part in a virtual Olympics organised by another on line group, not diabetes related. It has been fun, walking, skipping, dancing etc. to the best of our ability. Encouraging to those of us who find regular exercise unappealing, I am rediscovering a waist that I had almost...

Metformin - am I right to be scared??

You have managed for 11 years without meds. If you had taken the meds at the beginning where would you be now? You had the courage to give your body a chance to sort itself out. Now it needs some help. What I find difficult is when the initial diet advice is 'eat healthy carbs' (a contradiction...

    Newly diagnosed type 2

Hi and welcome The tendency at first is to try to put everything right at once. My advice, tackle one thing at a time. It has taken a while for you to gain the weight, your body and skin needs some time to get used to the slimmer you as you lose weight. By avoiding some foods that tended to...
