    Diagnosed Type 2 Today

As others have said the past is over and done, what you do today and tomorrow are important. The best things I did when I was diagnosed was get a blood glucose monitor and learn how to use it, (some fingers bleed more easily than others) Use a chart to keep a check on your readings, the food you...

    TESTING .........HBA1C (type2)

Oh well, the sun is shining, I've got the day off, a spoonful of ice cream, a large glass of wine and a dress that I bought last year and can now get on comfortably. What more could a girl want? I usually count my blessings and find myself very fortunate. I can feel a pamper session coming on...

    TESTING .........HBA1C (type2)

If it is another doctor in the same practice they will back each other up. Yesterday I went for an appointment with the one person left in the practice I attend who had not tried to mislead me and they were not interested in my meter results. My HbA1c results of 6.6 and, following NHS diet...

    I'm really struggling

I also found it difficult at the beginning and I have a strong dislike of exercise, to put it mildly. Now with my bg monitor I find it a voyage of discovery. I am eating foods I had not eaten much before, the result on the monitor is often a surprise and I have found an exercise programme that I...

    Totally Lost Type2.

Hi Rosie Welcome to the community. It can seem overwhelming at first but take a little bit at a time. You have taken a tablet and had breakfast. Your monitor is your friend so don't be afraid of it. I made a spreadsheet listing everything I ate and the result after 2 hours. It helped to keep me...

    Sudden change in bread reaction

Ok, Ok let's get back to the original problem - the toast this morning. Have you asked your baker if they have a gluten free range? Some do and you may not get a big spike with that. I have found that after years of eating bread without any problems that I know about I have to stop eating all...

    Latest HbA1c results. Down again!

That is a brilliant result. The next challenge is to find a maintenance system for diet and exercise.

Recently Diagnosed Type 2- enjoyed Devon scone with clotted cream at weekend

So glad you enjoyed your treat. As a one off it should not affect the average over 8 - 12 weeks, which is what I am told HBa1C is supposed to measure. Getting a meter was the best thing that I did, I have found what I can eat, and been surprised. I have also found what I can't and been able to...

    Which Bread?

Buy a blood test kit and rigorously test your blood first thing in the morning and 2 hours after meals. Keep a note of everything that you eat and gradually introduce different foods, one at a time so that you know what is causing a rise in blood sugar. I have found that I can eat gluten and...

    Doctors..if I swear..will I be banned from this forum..

Use that anger and frustration at not being listened to or being treated like a child to keep going on days when it is tough. Whenever I pass my GP surgery on a walk I mentally give a victory sign because I know I have proved both the doctor I last saw and the DN wrong.

Exercise - surprising and exciting information

It seems that I hit on the right combination by accident. There are a variety of walks including some interval walks available on utube. They become quite addictive, are free, can be done whatever the weather plus I know I will feel better after completing one.
