    Type 2 T2 data

I was told by a gp last week that I would always need medication and that I would need to get used to it. Then she looked at my last hbalc (39) and said that the metformin was obviously working. Then she noticed my weight loss and asked if I knew how unhealthy it was to lose weight that quickly...

    A feeling of sunburn

Hi, my husband had shingles and the effects lasted for ages. I think some people are just unlucky. My elderly aunt also had it and suffered no lasting problems at all. If the symptoms are very difficult I think that there are some medications that can help.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

    Mrs elswood cucumbers

I love theses things ( mmmmm pickles) but gave them up because they seemed to have a far few carbs and I have problems just eating one. But I have seen some pickled with sweetener instead of sugar. The carbs seem less but it doesnt say if the carb value is drained weight or not. Do any of you...

Are we talking diets or religion? ( or maybe its all about fear?)

And a faith is the acceptance of a creed without evidence. I don't think evidence backed research really counts as a faith. I have no doubt that in the future other evidence will be found to point in other directions, but at the moment low carb seems to be the best we have. As soon as that new...

Are we talking diets or religion? ( or maybe its all about fear?)

I am a Newby, having joined in July a week or so after dx. I am eternally grateful to all those who did not hang back, who told me that they were fighting diabetes in their way and told me how they had done it. As a grown up I am quite able to decide for myself what I want to do and tbh do not...

    The usefulness of forums

. . . . Are you saying that your dn has never heard of Dawn phenomenon? That is more than a little worrying.

    Newbie

Hello and welcome. This is a great place. Pull up a chair, snuggle down with a good cup of coffee and start reading. I was diagnosed in june this year and this forum really is a life saver. I have only two bits of advice. Firstly, forget everything you thought you knew about type 2 diabetes...

Prof Roy Taylor's work on reversing type 2 diabetes

So the amount of carbs etc are not important. You could do this without any. Which would make way more sense for a t2d. I have not watched the t.v. programme about tina, but from what I have read that was not made at all clear. In fact, in some ways it seems to be pushing the fact that carbs are...

My personal hypothesis - T2 - Low insulin Diet

May I ask if you have an " ideal" weight , bmi etc that you are aiming for? As I get closer to the ideal weight for my height I find that I am becoming more hungry, when I have not been bothered by hunger at all since about 3 days into my new woe. Curious to know how others have experienced...

    My mum's feet

I wonder what support you have, bingo? Being a carer has many pitfalls, no matter how much we love our parents. Does someone help you?

Update - Numbers on the way down!

I was asked to keep a note for a week and then drop the readings into the nurse. Never heard back.

Update - Numbers on the way down!

Well done. Hard work all worth it. How do you know about your bp? Do you measure your own or just take it at the surgery? I ask because I have an awful case of white coat syndrome ( ironic really because I was a reg nurse). Have been given hypertensives. But started testing at home and its...

    stress

Hi. Hope all goes well with the move, its not easy. I am new to all this, but would perhaps ask how much exercise you currently do? For some it raises bgl, but for some it drops it. And are you sleeping ok?

    Hba1c.

I am seriously considering a pre war English diet, only perhaps without as much potato as I remember. I like the lchf its just that a lot of my food travels a very long way before it ends up on my plate. Not a problem for many people but it is for me. And I like the idea of having " seasons"...

    My mum's feet

This is very difficult and you are right to be concerned . I would definitely phone the gp and request a visit again, but if the practice is anything like my mums they will not come out. Is it impossible to get her there,? Or perhaps a minor injuries or walk in centre? If none of the above...
