Big food and big pharma killing for profit?

I read the article and was interested in this piece of advice: "Public Health England’s chief nutritionist Dr Alison Tedstone said: “High-fat diets are often high in calories and can lead to weight gain – this can increase the risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and some cancers. “Too much...

Big food and big pharma killing for profit?

It may be that UK chooses to adopt certain EU laws and standards post Brexit, for harmonisation of medical standards. No one knows what negotiations have been going on behind closed doors, away from the glare of the limelight of the press. Until, the UK has left the EU, we are all guessing

    Newly diagnosed

Hi and welcome to this wonderful, informative and friendly corner of t'interweb. First, if you were like me, you have been totally baffled by the diagnosis, and feel like a ship lost at sea without a rudder with so much going through your mind and wondering if you are making the right choices...

Big food and big pharma killing for profit?

I had never heard of him until today, his cause is a worthy one and I do hope he gets success and gets the EU and UK to take note and act. It would make for much healthier nations and less money spent on medications, saving money long term. Having Googled him, I see he has travelled a long...

    Any advice

Hi Cath I was newly diagnosed with T2 in February, and I too was eating all wrong things which prior to diagnosis I ate to to control my weight, But I lurked for a while and took the advice given in the forums. So, I also bought myself a meter to monitor my BG levels and the the effects which...

    Bloodless Revolution

If £1/day is possible, cost benefits to NHS and self funding diabetics (assuming it will be available to self funding). Perhaps in 1 years time, we may see some cost reductions by existing suppliers, when this product appears to become a realistic alternative

    Freestyle Libre problems

I have only had two sensors, and no issue so far (touch wood -scratches head). I have had fun trying to get them off , they seem welded on. Maybe the alcohol swab they provide manages to prepare my skin better than others. As an alternative to adhesive tape, I have seen some elastic and a...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Don't you just love this mysterious world of Diabetes and checking you BG levels. Woke up to 7.2, (my BG spiked during the night while asleep before waking at 4am to over 8 according to my Freestyle Libre ), and it rose this morning hovering around 8.8 before lunch at 1pm. I have just finger...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. 7.2 for me this morning, with finger prick at 6.40am, which was a shock. Checked my Freestyle Libra and this showed a spike that rose to over 8 from below 6 around 4am just after I woke up to nip to loo. Prior to that it was showing all below 6. Only difference to normal was I...

VAT Rules - Diabetes products are VAT Free - HMRC guide

This thing with GP's stating diabetes as resolved is confusing as different GP's seem to be offering different opinions rather than advice. I was told quite categorically by my GP that diabetes is a life long condition, it does not go away, it can be controlled, not eliminated, and if...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning to all My 'Jabba the Cut' machine informed me i was 6.8 this morning which was not expected. But I did wake at 4am and dozed until 7am when I tested so not sure if that affected results On plus side scales told me of a weight loss, which has seen me loose 6.9kg since 10th Feb...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Very strange, as this happened to me, 4.2 before bed last night and 6.2 this morning after waking. Maybe my vampire machine wants me to do extra tests today to satisfy its blood lust
