    Good morning

Hi. Good move buying the meter. Testing before and 2-2.5 hours after eating will soon let your know what to avoid/reduce. I'd advise recording the readings alongside details of what you ate...it's the best way to see patterns at a glance. By the way, most burgers are fine...and a number of...

    NHS

Agreed. I am in no doubt that the NHS is not the problem...the government is. Still, bad management is bad management..and in my experience it is in almost every industry as short term thinking dominates across the board.

    NHS

There are clearly issues regarding admin and management as well as problems with how budgets dictate what is prioritized. I get that some of the diabetes advice is pretty out-dated too. That said, I have to add that all the support I have received has been excellent..and I could never praise...

    Hi from Fife

Hi Don. I'm in Central Scotland. I did live out towards Fife before...Kinross way. Looks like you know what you intend to do anyway. I would advise you record your pre and post meal readings along with times and the food you eat; that will really inform you as to what is to be avoided. Bottom...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

"grumpy pickle"...I think I had some of that last week...maybe it was just the "torn-faced salad cream"...but my wife blamed me for it!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

What do you have for breakfast?

The only way to find out what impact certain foods have on us as individuals (one man's sourdough bread is another man's bowl of sugar puffs etc.) is to test before and about 2.5 hours after eating anything we haven't yet tested and to record the times, readings and the kind of food. May seem a...

What do you have for breakfast?

I case you're not yet sure of the impact of carbohydrates...they turn to glucose in your system. I'd advise you stick to foods that are 10g of carb or less per 100g...some peanut butter is ok, some is not so low. It will be the bread that's pushing your blood sugar up.

What do you have for breakfast?

Hi. I always found breakfast the hardest to stay true to a low carb diet with because I loved my cereal and croisssants! I still manage/sneak some here and there these days if my waking levels are nice and low..but when I was first trying to get things under control, I had to avoid them...

    Newly diagnosed type 2

Hi. As @Liam1955 has suggested, read through the basic but important info @daisy1 posts. We all vary obviously in age in health in approach in shapes, size, diet, individual response to meds and to foods, but getting in control of your blood sugar levels is certainly well achievable if you can...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Hi. Yup. I'd recommend testing on waking, and before and 2.5 hours after food, noting down the readings and the food...that will inform you a great deal.

ill again and having great bgs and losing weight.

I really feel for you, pal. It's hard enough just managing the diabetes without having other stuff to deal with (particularly things which hinder you so much). I hope it's under control soon. I am against steroids too (as they caused by diabetes) but I still have to take a small dose to help...

    My numbers are up

Hiya. Give us a general idea of your diet and I'm sure you'll get advice worth reading. That said, if your carb intake is low, it could well be an infection of some kind (even a tiny non-aggressive one can raise BS) or just stress.
