    Husky

A guy goes up to an ice cream van and asks is a very gruff and husky voice "Can I have a 99 please?" The salesman asks "Crushed nuts?" "No...laryngitis". I am so...so...so...sorry.

I shot at a rabbit yesterday. Was it wild? Wild? It was bloody furious!

    LCHF

Hi. In a word - no. Interestingly, when I was munching all kinds of rubbish..that's when I was more likely to "need" to snack. I'm sure much of that "hunger" thing is psychological. Let's face it, how many of us on this site have ever actually been literally starving?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.0 at 9.30am. Well pleased with that. Less well pleased being jabbed to bits at the renal clinic a couple of hours later as a blind care assistant withe the shakes bruised the bejaysus out of me taking bloods for this, that and all kinds of next things. The day had started so well...

    First appointment!

Excellent! That's good to hear. I like to have a general idea of what to expect if I have any kind of medical appointment. I wish there was a kidney transplant site with forums as useful as this one for diabetics. It would have made things less worrying for me over the years. Still, I know more...

    First appointment!

Hi. I'm Type 2...so it may differ a bit..but hopefully one reply here will trigger others with direct Type 1 experience. My first appointment was actually after I had been diagnosed in hospital following a transplant (the steroid treatment caused the diabetes)...and I saw the diabetes team...

6.5 yesterday...must have been the slices of pizza that sneaked their way under my radar.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Yes, stress can increase blood sugar levels...and I get that you generally get lower readings in the morning but, to be honest, 7mmols is not really that bad! I take it you know all about the liver dumping glucose into the system while we sleep? I don't know if you are on low carbs? Anyway...

    Hi, been away

Hi. Welcome back. It has been a while. I hope you are doing well and that the spikes yesterday are easily explained.

    Drowning, not waving.

Hi. I may be Type 2 and have no kids myself, but I thought I'd chuck in my tuppence worth. You are not drowning- you are learning how to stay afloat in rather stormy waters that are new to you. If you were not looking out for your wee daughter and only had yourself to worry about, you'd feel...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Hi. hard to say without more detail. If you are on medication but not on a low carb diet, you may wish to consider starting. is it only higher at that time of day (so it's not maybe an infection)? What do you know about "liver dump" while you sleep? Maybe research that.

Hi, Icki...pardon my pendantry but I love the fact that your butt is so small it only has one "t". :)

    Diet whey

Hi. That's a start but remember that carbohydrates effectively turn to sugar in the blood...so cutting down on sugar alone will not make the difference that cutting down on carbohydrate will.

Hi I'm a newbie and just been diagnosed

Hi, @Sunshinelover85, I would suggest that if it is Type 2..which it probably is...and you want to feel more empowered and less resentful...think about resisting the prescription of meds you might be offered and instead discuss with your doctor the possibility of trying to get your blood sugar...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was trying to explain that in my earlier reply. I am in Scotland, where we do not pay for things directly as in the States..insurance and all that guff. We have a National Health Service which is funded mainly by the people (through taxation and specific monies). Drugs prescribed by doctors...

    Unexpected HBA1c result

An HbA1c of 50 - definitely diabetic; your levels are dropping because of the metformin. If you don't address the eating disorder, perhaps through counselling, your levels will get worse again. I hope you get the help you need and get in control. By the say, lots of us Glaswegians had...less...
