Type 1 Who hates low blood sugar?

Any particular reason you think you get hypos? Too much insulin? Too much basal? Just wondering :)

    type 1 diabetic

Thats great @Danielle Rafter you are doing well then, that is a great bit of kit to have when you're asleep and gives you that peace of mind... I agree at least type 2 in most senses is reversible, to a certain extent.

    basal run out system

Wow thats crazy! I thought you were newly diagnosed lol! Basal is a trial and error thing its easiest to adjust it during longer fasting periods because you know if its going to go up down or balance out without variation you get when and after eating Maybe your basal just lasts longer in your...

I know I feel awful for them and really hope there is a cure for it soon! How easy or hard do you find the pump now?

    type 1 diabetic

I try to push it to the back of my brain as much as I can, but I am not ashamed of my illness, I am proud of the way I control it and deal with life, as im sure everyone is. Pumps are peoples personal opinions, it would be nice to have one, however I don't mind injecting myself, so I refused an...

There are no wierd questions my friend, a question is a question. How long have you been a type 1 diabetic? You could still be in the honeymoon period if your sugars remain at a steady level What insulins are you on

    type 1 diabetic

Oh I was diagnosed at 15 so it was easier to understand, I couldn't possibly imagine going through it at such a young age, it would be so difficult for you as a child to understand I presume? You are incredibly brave to go through that! Yes definitely take you insulin from now on as it is there...

    basal run out system

Hello there, I haven't actually attempted this test, I assume once there is no basal or insulin at all in your body, your blood sugars rise hourly by on average 2-3mmol/l? Could be wrong, im not sure really. I dread my basal running out so I take my Glargine twice daily so it overlaps as it is...

    type 1 diabetic

Hello and welcome, I had a similar episode last year in which I somehow had ketoacidosis and gastrointeritis and spent time in hospital. I was told to go the hospital, my blood sugar was only 16 but I struggled to lower it, I thought screw this (out of desperation and wouldnt recommend it) and...

Just got my Type one diabetic tattoo

The tattoo is great and I also am thinking about getting the same-ish one, not so much for the fact that it is easily seen by medical staff if needed, but that because type 1 diabetes has become such a part of my life that I would like to turn the negatives about my condition into something...

    Sudden changes

Hello there, recently my uncle had lost around 4 stone in 3 months, urinating excessive, drinking like a fish, the doctors diagnosed him as being a type 2 diabetic even though he's sugar was 22 and the other symptoms mentioned. They would not diagnose him type 1 until further blood tests and...

Yes although I don't do it, cooking pasta or rice and letting it soak, rinsing it afterwards, then heating it up again removes some of the starch which can have a negative effect, frozen chips on the other hand im not too sure, all I have done is switch to slim cut chips or fries and have less...

I find this too, because mash is more liquified your body absorbs it quicker, I usually only ever have 100g weighed mash or chips now if I have that on a meal, it only works out at 20-25g of carbs, so its a nice treat sometimes
