Frequent urinating before waking up in the morning

If I have to get up twice during the night my blood sugar reading in the morning is over 6.0. I know for sure that if I don't get up twice it will be under 6.0 in the morning. For me, high blood sugars mean more frequent urination.

More blood to be taken on Thursday. :(

Ask for a GAD test. A GAD antibody will confirm whether you have autoimmune diabetes or not. If you have antibodies you are autoimmune and therefore either type 1 or LADA/1.5 and if you have no antibodies you are non-autoimmune and so therefore type 2.

    Bullet proof coffee

Pure coconut oil does not have any coconut smell or taste. Virgin coconut oil has the coconut smell and taste. Try the pure, it is also normaly much cheaper (Tesco £1.50 for 500ml)

So here's a heart attack for all the good LADAs....

Hi susie Have you tried a low carb diet?. No bread, no pasta, no potatoes, no rice, no cakes etc. This works for a lot of us on here. If you want to lower your blood sugar levels without insulin it might be worth a try. I have been on it for around 6 months now, it's working for me.

    What about gallstones?

Copied from Nina Teicholz book The big fat surprise 'One of the more startling revelations that Blake Donaldson wrote about lay in his observation that patients on a low- carbohydrate diet not only lost weight but also saw symptoms of other health problems disappear. These included heart...

Can I prove the Dr's wrong?

I thought it was too good to be true..... My pre breakfast BG levels are back around the 5.0 levels. My 4.3 pre breakfast average lasted two weeks, my highest reading during that time was a 4.9 2 hours after dinner. Two weeks..... It all ended when I opened up a fresh tub of testing strips. One...

    Managing the Bernstein eating plan

My main breakfast for the last 8 weeks is a bacon omelet (2xegg, 2x chopped bacon, 75ml double cream, 4x slices chopped courgette, 1xsmall tomato, with a sprinkle of turmeric). Followed by a butter and coconut bullet proof coffee. Before the bulletproof coffee I had a couple of low carb...

Not just any sausages. 1g carb sausages!

I normally go for Tesco finest. From memory they are 97% pork and have 1g carb.... And I prefer them to black farmers, and normally cheaper.

Going to see consultant this week...

Hi Linda Welcome to the forum and especially the lada section. As Lucy says, you will need a GAD test to establish if you are T2 or T1 / LADA (mine took 3 weeks before I had the results back). You don't say what diet you are on. Many of us find a very low carb (no bread, no potatoes, no rice...

    Foot Pain

I had similar experience before I was diagnosed. The diabetic nurse did some tests and I had lost all my feelings in my gig toe..... All caused by high blood sugars. Now my bs are much lower i don't get any more tingling / pains and I am pretty sure I have feelings in my big toe back again (but...

    Pesky dawn phenomenon

Baffling..... I can only say what works for me. Two things I would try. 1). Is to test before going to bed as well. This will tell you if your exercise reduced your bs levels (some find they don't). 2). If your bs levels are higher last thing before bed than 2 hours after dinner (mine often...

    Need put weight on

I have had the same problem. I managed to put on a stone and a half by eating more meat, cheese, full fat milk, cream butter etc. If your blood sugar levels are good you probably won't have to worry about protein. If they are not so good the extra protein in meat might make your bs levels...

Dec 2014 update: New research on the Low Carb Diet in general practice

What an interesting book (The Big Fat Surprise). Not so much concerning diabetes, but they (back in the 70s) were so concerned about reducing heart attacks they ignored (covered up) all the other factors (cancer increase, diabetic increase, other fatalities etc.).

Dec 2014 update: New research on the Low Carb Diet in general practice

I think The problem is, the NHS policy / guidelines do not recommend low carb higher fat diets. Thus no NHS employee can recommend it (though many accept it when patients show good BG results). I guess any pct / Dr surgery can do their own trials, like southportGp, but in doing so have to do...

    Managing the Bernstein eating plan

My pre breakfast (as I call it) consists of a mixture of flaked almonds, crushed walnuts, linseed, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and sprinkle of cinnamon all mixed up with 75ml double cream. The seed mix quantity is around a handful. I would rather swap the double cream for Greek yoghurt, but...

    Pesky dawn phenomenon

I have found a few ways of lowering my pre breakfast BG readings. 1). Exercise before bed. If I eat at 7pm and test at 9pm I pretty much know that my morning BG will be around 1.00 higher than that at 9pm. However, if I exercise (ex cycle in front of TV), then test half hour after I have...

Can I prove the Dr's wrong?

Could my beta cells be regrowing. This weeks average pre breakfast BG levels are 4.3, which has brought my 4 week average down to 4.6. A definite downward trend. I don't know why they are lower, no dietary or exercise change. I hope I can keep them this low.... Time will tell....

    Honeymooners!?

Out of interest, when does the LADA / honeymoon period end? I kind of thought it was when you went on insulin, but obviously not.
