Need help. BG are ruining my life.

Thanks @Juicyj. Yes, I'm doing it from tomorrow while I'm off work. I'll skip breakfast and see what happens. What pattern can you see to my readings?

Need help. BG are ruining my life.

I try to bolus 30 minutes before I eat, too. I have his book and his diet one too. I might try the 6, 12, 12 way and see if it works. I'll try to stick with LCHF as it's the only way I've ever seen good results. Thanks, I hope I pass this year!

Need help. BG are ruining my life.

Hi all I try to stay positive with my diabetes but lately it's been really getting to me. I'm training to be a teacher and this is easily the most stressful year of my life with work and my health. I went and saw my DSN on Tuesday and I was there for three hours - not in the waiting room -...

    Blood sugar spikes

Hi Isobel I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a terrible time of late. It's hard to plan your life around when you eat and sometimes you are just going to eat and inject at the same time. However, if you can wait 20 to 30 minutes it'll really help your blood sugar spikes settle a little...

    Weird Libre graphs

20 minutes later and they're sending me a replacement sensor... Turns out the last sensor had the same problem too, but they won't replace it as I binned it three weeks ago. Argh. I'll see how I go with the next one.

    Weird Libre graphs

Hi My sensor has been giving me error messages the last few days. Telling me to scan again in 10 minutes. I just synced the data and all the graphs are dots and not connected and there are times where the sensor didn't record any data. Should I send it back to Abbott? It's never happened...

    Getting more and more confused....

Very interesting, thanks! I'm starting to see just how much I need when I wake up now and it's more that I thought. That old 1u will bring you down 2-3mmol doesn't work in the morning at all. So you take insulin if you're 6.0? I'd do a little dance then correct a hypo!

    Getting more and more confused....

That's interesting to hear, @Dillinger. I'm finding that it's been higher recently on waking up. I think because I had a scary-while-asleep hypo I've been having a bedtime snack and not doing a bolus or it. I'm going to change my ratio tonight to 1:6 from 1:5, so I'm a little higher after...

    Diabetic meetup 4, 30th of January 2016, 2pm at http://princesslouisepub.co.uk/

It was really nice to meet everyone and not feel so alone in this. Also, I loved it when the food came out and I saw people blood testing in unison. Ha.

    Getting more and more confused....

Levermir and dose splitting will make a big difference. Appallingly I was on 44u of Levermir before bed and it wasn't working effectively for about 14 years and no one told me why or how to fix it. I'm still playing with my before bed Levermir dose, as it used to crash me, and now my readings...

Freestyle Libre - what's involved & is it worth it..?

I'm going to keep it on and see what they say. :D

Freestyle Libre - what's involved & is it worth it..?

Quick question(s). The sensor is showing a 2mmol difference (lower on Libre) to my blood test from my old Insulinx metre. Called Abbott today and they are sending me a new sensor. Can I keep the old sensor on for the remaining 14 days to see if it improves? Or do I need to send it back ASAP? I'm...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Thanks ConradJ, that's good advice. I've got the Libre now so I can see what's happening after food. It's all very interesting. I'm sure I'll crack the code soon!

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My HbA1c was 10.5 in November, now it's 9.9 in January. Sigh. At least it's going down.

Freestyle Libre - what's involved & is it worth it..?

Just started using the Libre last night. Painless to insert the sensor. It works so quickly and it's addictive. I seem to be checking every 10 mins or so at the moment. It's been so useful already. I think it's about 1.5 - 2mmol off my finger testing, but its showing me when I dip low in the...

Really low and really high. Check my results please?

Yeah, I'll play around with it some more. Oh, that's interesting. I didn't think about eating breakfast to stop my sugars going up. Seemed counterintuitive to me. I'll try it and see. So do you just eat something small and bolus for it? I love sushi so much. Don't want to miss out on it.

Really low and really high. Check my results please?

Hi @1Sarah1, I don't usually have anything until after 10:30 or so when I get a break at school. I'm slowly starting to understand it all as well. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter; she's lucky that she has such a competent mum looking after her. I tested was 10.9, ate some sushi (56g of...
