    Soft Drink Blunders

Yep it happened to me a few weeks ago and I was quite ill!! I was served normal Pepsi from a tap thingy instead of diet and because I never drink Pepsi I couldn't tell! I asked the girl behind the bar 4 times if it was diet (it wasn't) and she said it was!!!

    Plane travel

In 10 years the only place I've been asked for a doctors note was travelling through Malaysia into Singapore but I carry one just in case. Malaga airport let me take a whole bottle of lucozade through security which I thought was odd (left it in my handbag by mistake) but meant I didn't have...

    Advice

After my little sugary coke episode last night, I have become pretty ill but I don't think it's related. I've had a temperate of 39 degrees since the middle of the night and have spent all day either covered in sweat or shivering. I haven't eaten a thing since 7pm last night but have taken my...

    T1 Work Question

I worked airside for Harrods in heathrow..:I know it's slightly different but I found my control slipped because of the shift patterns. I'd do two early starts then two late starts and the change in time of giving my levemir was a little tricky to manage.

    Disaster

I know drinking can spike you, I'm a careful drinker and I've never had a problem before.

    Disaster

So, for the first time since diagnosis 11 years ago, I've had a 'HI' reading on my meter!!!! Went out for a birthday and ordered two vodka and diet cokes...asked 4 times if the coke was diet (it was Pepsi, I never drink Pepsi so I can't tell) and the bar lady was like 'oh yeah it's deffo diet...

    Dextro or Glucotabs?

I hate them both!!! I use lucozade to treat a hypo followed by half a slice of toast

Blood sugar levels always high in the mid morning?

What ratio are you on at breakfast? I used to be on a 2:1 ratio but after a few months I went down to a 1:1 ratio. Could be worth trying to up your insulin to carb ratio, see if that helps?

does it take you longer to get over illnesses & injuries as a type1?

I have good diabetic control but a ****** immune system!! Even a common cold wipes me out for days, like the one I have now!! :(

    Good bloody morning!!

Woke up, blood sugar was 14, feeling rubbish, massive argument with the other half so I can only imagine how high my bloods will be when I get to work!! 14 hour day today so it's just going to be one of those days!!!! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Wiped out after night time hypo

I had a horrible hypo one night after I'd been drinking. I woke up but was all dazed and confused, drenched in swear so I got up and stuck my head out the window! Luckily my boyfriend woke up and tried shoving sweets down my throat but I was so confused at the time!!! That's the worst hypo I've...

Local girl died; feeling a bit freaked out - are there ways to reduce risks of diabetic comas?

Hey - try not to panic (easier said than done!) as this is extremely rare!!! Keep lucozade by your bed and check your blood sugar before bed. I sometimes set an alarm an hour later after I plan to go to sleep just to test again and reassure myself. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

How do you feel when high?

Woke up last night very high - 20.1 - and felt very tired, groggy and thirsty. These are my normal 'high' symptoms. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Strange

Levels eventually came down with a correction dose and were fine all day! When I'm upset I get a sudden high - I never used to, maybe as I'm getting older this changes perhaps? Anyway, it's a pain in the bum regardless!! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Strange

My BS last night was 6.2 and an hour later following an argument with my boyfriend it went up to 13 (stress I presume)! Did 2units novorapid and went to bed. Woke up at 5am and my BS was 20.1!!!!!! Did 3 units and just checked now and it's still 18!!!!! Why!!?!?!?! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Levemir split injections - best times?

I split mine, take my morning usually between 7-9am (16 units)'and before bed (18 units). It's helped my control a lot as I used to just do one injection before bed previously. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Feel like I'm in full blown DKA

I had a nasty case of DKA in January and it came on very fast and very hard! Can you test your ketones at home? That will help you x Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    carbs and injections

I don't eat for a few hours after waking up half the time. My levemir I take in the morning keeps me stable and if I don't eat anything until midday my sugars are fine due to the long acting. Have you tried basal testing? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
