When your glucose level is 5 or lower do you still administer your insulin???
Whenever, mine drops that low I’m never sure whether I should administer it or not.
I’ve not had any guidance from the hospital. Therefore, any information/experience you can share on this will be gratefully...
I shop with Tesco regularly & was unable to get any delivery slots. Have been self isolating from the start. So my hubby phoned the number & explained to Tesco, reasons for shielding diabetes & other conditions. They then added me to their priority list & have given us access to priority slots...
I’m sure the insulin isn’t acting as fast as it should be. I tend to eat 15mins after I’ve done the insulin. I find if I don’t I’m prone to hypos starting. So that then implies the insulin is working quickly.
Thanks for your suggestions, I hadn’t thought of any of those factors so really appreciate you highlighting them.
I’ve only noticed this the last two weeks or so. As a rule my glucose levels are normally between 5-8. Whereas now, they are ranging between 10-14 .
Lately, I’ve also noticed I’m...
I’m currently taking Levemir & NovoRapid....however I’m noticing at the moment that the NovoRapid seems to be having no effect on my sugars!
I have to take NovoRapid 15mins before I eat, I’m adjusting the amount of insulin depending on my glucose reading.
Can that happen?
Any information, &...
Being as I have finger wipes that absorb my blood, and my test strips all come individually wrapped.
I feel they should go in the sharps box because of the nature of what they are. Household waste doesn’t seem appropriate to me for them.
I’ve recently started self funding the I-Port advance. So once I’ve changed them, I’ll be putting them in my sharps box...as they have a needle at the end.
I also have a pen with a 6 lancet needle in it, so they will be going in too.
This is probably a very silly question, but I’m curious so going to ask anyway.
What do you put in your sharps box?
Currently, I only put my needles & test strips, and finished insulin pens in mine.
However, I’m debating if I could also put in, my test strip wrappers, along with the wipes I...
Hi all, hope you are all doing ok?
I’m after a little advice please. On Tuesday my DN advised me to increase my evening dose of NovoRapid.
Currently, I administer the following:-
Before breakfast:- 4 units Levemir
Breakfast:- NovoRapid:- 16 units
Lunch:- NovoRapid:- 16 units
Dinner:-...
Hi Mary,
So sorry to hear about your mum. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
I’ve been on insulin since last June, and I’ve struggled to inject. However, I recently discovered the i-Port advance.
I purchased a test kit of two devices initially (£15). In my case I immediately saw a difference in...
Last week I started using the i-Port advance for the first time. On the first day I saw an immediate improvement in my blood sugars. Prior to this, I was using the TickleFlex as an aid to help me inject.
However, now using the i-Port advance I’ve come to the conclusion I wasn’t getting my full...
Had my appointment with the DN today, and I have to say it was very positive regarding the I - Port.
She said she would do her very best to try and secure it on prescription for me. So you can’t asked for anymore than that.
I have started using the sample pack I ordered, and injecting via the...
I use the TickleFlex when injecting. After administering I leave the needle inserted for 30 seconds before removing.
However, I do find that the needle tends to have a tiny drop of insulin still on it.
I inject 16 units, and based on my following readings afterwards they implied that all of...
Hi all,
I hope you’re all well?
I’m after some advice if possible. I’m considering purchasing this device I-port advance.
So firstly, I’m trying to find out if anybody uses them? If so, what advice, hints and tips would you give?
Thanks in advance
Thanks for that information.
The only reason I’m debating testing is because more often than not my sugars are way above 14/15. I get beyond lunch time and my sugars are into double figures. I’ve been diagnosed as t2, but I’m not convinced, I think my diabetes is t1.
Then by the evening they...
Have you been advised to check your Ketones?
My blood glucose monitor has a ketone facility on it.
Every so often when I’m checking my BG, it flashes an alert for Ketones.
I’m debating whether I should invest in the strips to enable me to check my ketone level.
Do you check your ketones, if...
NovoRapid I have to keep at 16u, anything higher causes me hypo’s. I’m supposed to be increasing my Levemir....but not having much joy trying to do that.
Hi all, I hope you are all well? I’m after a little advice please.
Have your DM’s advised you when you shouldn’t inject? I’ve had no advice from them really tho regarding this.
I currently inject NovoRapid p (16u) 4 times a day and Levemir (46u) last thing at night.
This afternoon, I took my...
