    Hypo’s advice

Thanks for you’re reply. The hypo’s seem to be happening about 15- 20 mins after I’ve admistered my insulin. The guidelines I’ve been given is to eat about 15min after doing the insulin. On Thursday I admistered my insulin, waited 15mins then had something to eat. Then after I finished eating...

    Levemir insulin

Thanks both. I normally inject the NovoRapid in my abdomen. I’ve been injecting the Levemir in my thighs, and not had any issues until recently. I’ve been debating trying to inject in my arms, but feel rather apprehensive about that.

    Type 2 Sharps Box Disposal

Makes sense now, best and safest way to dispose of medical waste. I use my sharp boxes for my test strips, lancets and needles, I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable putting test strips, and lancets in with general household waste. I’ve been on insulin since June 2018, and due to the rate...

    Type 2 Sharps Box Disposal

I’m in South Wales, I’ve had to register with a company that collect sharp boxes from the hospital. I’ve posted photos of what was collected, and what they left as a replacement. They now come and collect my boxes as and when required. Whereas, 30 mins West of where I live the procedure is...

    Type 2 Sharps Box Disposal

Why would you need a sharps box if you’re not on insulin? Prior to going on insulin I needed a sharps box to accompany my blood glucose testing kit. I purchased one online, as at that point in time I was unable to have them on prescription. Now, I have my sharps box on prescription but still...

    Type 2 Sharps Box Disposal

There’s no charge firstly, and I think that’s because the referral came from one of the hospital’s in my area. Not the hospital most local to me, the hospital which did the referral is about 30 minutes away from my house. If I was you, I certainly try and see if your surgery or hospital can...

    Type 2 Sharps Box Disposal

http://www.srcl.com/ This is the company that collect my sharps boxes. If I were you, I’d email them to confirm they can collect them. Ask in your surgery or hospital if they have a referral form you can fill in. As far as I’m aware this is a nationwide company within the UK.

    Type 2 Sharps Box Disposal

Well my sharps box is on the doorstep ready for collection. So I hope in the morning there will be no problem with it’s collection, and a new one being left. My house is the last house on the drive, so I’ve had to leave them in a way they will be seen. Therefore, I hope what I’ve done will...

How long prior to exercising (running), should you test?

Thanks everyone for all the information. I went to my first running session on Monday. I checked my bg just before I had my late lunch, but then didn’t check again till I was doing my night dose insulin. I’m currently taking NovoRapid 15mins prior to a meal, 3 times a day. Along with a dose of...

How long prior to exercising (running), should you test?

My DN advised I should always test before doing exercise. I’m just wondering how long before, and after people test? Obviously, I don’t want to be testing to late, but do t want it to be to early either. I’d be most grateful if you can share your routine in order to give me some idea. Thanks all

Found out today my DN is a runner (coach). So she’ll be the perfect person to have advice from . She was pleased when I told her I joined a running club yesterday. She told me to always test my blood before I start running, and not to eat a large meal beforehand. I have to admit, I’m looking...
