I think we might need to ask the moderators. They could maybe delete what’s alongside the plastic word too. Would be very interesting if it could be posted in all the relevant forums to read everyone’s responses

    Self Injection Tips

Hi, welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two years ago. Last week I had my first appointment with the hospital specialists. They have put me onto insulin. I thought I’d never be able to inject myself. Slowly but surely I have been though. The nurse at the hospital had a...

    Recent Blood Glucose Monitoring!

Well it seems like I worried for nothing. Just phoned my surgery to check prescription is ready. Prescription done, sent to local chemist. I asked how many test strips had been issued, and was advised 200. So the doctor has obviously anticipated the need I’ll have for testing especially with...

    Recent Blood Glucose Monitoring!

Last week I had my first appointment with the diabetic team at my local hospital. The specialist nurse decided going forward I needed to be put on insulin. Therefore, before leaving the hospital I was kitted out with a blood glucose machine and insulin. The machine I was given only came with 25...

    First Appointment With Endocrinologist!

I’ve been put onto “Levemir”, 10u once a day. Saw an immediate reduction in blood sugars. The only issue I’m having is that I’m feeling light headed afterwards. I’m hoping that’s purely down to being new to it, and body not use to it.

    New To Insulin!

I had my first appointment with the endocrinologist on Wednesday. At the appointment it was decided that I would go straight onto insulin. I have been trying hard to manage my blood sugar, but to no avail. Myself & hubby also are trying to have a baby, so hence everything has to be under control...

    First Appointment With Endocrinologist!

The endocrinologist hasn’t arranged any tests yet. I think that’s maybe because they had lots of tests results from my surgery already. Based on the results from my gp they put me straight onto insulin. So today is day 3 for me being on insulin.

Thanks for all you’re information. The appointment was nowhere near as daunting as I thought. Got another appointment next week, so now that the first ones out of the way the rest should be fine.

    First Appointment With Endocrinologist!

Tomorrow I have my first appointment with the hospital endocrinologist. I’m feeling rather nervous, is that normal? Any advice you can all give me will be very much appreciated. I really don’t know what to expect, how long do these appointments last? What happens after you’ve had an initial...

Who Decided To Put You On Insulin?

Generally, having cereal for breakfast, salads lunch time.....and fish in the evening ( I eat loads of fresh salmon, tuna). I make slow cooker stews, which have carb alternatives in them. I unfortunately don’t have a set routine for my eating either. The metformin is making my stomach bad, so...

Who Decided To Put You On Insulin?

Thank you, I’ve been taking the relevant supplements for months now. My neighbour is a midwife, so she checked for me what I’m taking. My blood sugar is my greatest concern tho. I’m doing all the relevant things to try and reduce it, diet, excerise etc but regardless of this it’s not lowering...

Who Decided To Put You On Insulin?

I am currently type 2 diabetic. I have been on slow release metformin since February. During this time my blood sugar has come down very little. On seeing my diabetic doctor at the end of May, he changed the type of metformin, it’s still slow release, again theses are having very little effect...
