    Meters - need advice

You dont have a say in what meter you’re given by your gp surgery. I have one they gave me which I don’t like but I can’t afford to buy my own or the strips that go with it.

    Yearly check

I really don’t trust the gp’s advice that’s why I go to the hospital clinic. I normally go twice a year. I do have some hypos but have had more since she told me to increase my insulin to 16. I’ve gone back to 14 now. I’ll try calling the diabetic nurses at the hospital.

    Yearly check

Hi, I had an annual review on Monday at the hospital where I’m treated. Had a lady I’d never seen before commenting on different things. I told her I’d stopped taking Ozempic she didn’t ask why only when I stopped taking it. She flicked through my meter, which is usually downloaded when I’m...

I got my hba1c down to 46 I didn’t feel any different. It’s now gone up to 70 something and I feel the same as when it was 46!

I’m sorry but I don’t think this has just come up overnight. Perhaps you were to scared to go to your drs with it.

Coke and chocolate in vending machines in hospital

I don’t see the problem. Just because you don’t want to buy it doesn’t mean other people can’t . It’s their choice. Just because I’m diabetic I would still buy crisps, coke and chocolate.

Type 2 Sorry if a stupid question - flu jab.

You don’t have to have the flu jab just because they say you do. I don’t have it and I don’t have the Covid injections anymore and I work in a hospital.

    Overweight type 2

I have a friend who is prediabetic and we were discussing diabetes and I didn’t realise but she thinks all overweight people have diabetes! Where do people come up with these ideas. She seemed very shocked when I said anyone can be diabetic.

    Testing kit

I have my meter in a small make up bag then when I use it before work I put it straight into my work bag. Today is an extra shift so I totally forgot to bring it. I don’t have a sensor and nobody can bring it to me.

Gestational Diabetes to type 2 possibly?

I had gestational diabetes with my first child in 1991. I can’t remember how far into my pregnancy I was but I was on insulin. It disappeared after but the dr said I would probably get it later in life. It didn’t wait that long and with in a few years it had come back!

When I was on Novarapid I gained weight, it made me hungry so I’d inject then I was hungry I’d inject then I was hungry etc it was a viscous circle. As soon as I was taken off it I lost the weight I’d gained.
