    Depressed about type 2

I felt terrible when I got the news. Was in denial for ages, when it sank in i got quite depressed. By that time though I had only made myself worse by eating so much sugary stuff ... Got citalapram in the end. Helped loads

    Injecting in public?

Think I will set myself the challenge of injecting in public this month. Loose the 'L' plates!

    Sweetners

Think its the same with most sweetners. Too much of them can cause side effects. Loose stools always seems to be the main one lol

    Injecting in public?

Ha! I'l give it a go. Might say something like "that's the good stuff right there!" Might raise an eyebrow or two

    Injecting in public?

This is new to me. Started insulin last week and so far do my best to hide away when I inject. Feel quite embarrassed about it. My mate has injected most of his life and is never fussed about injecting publicly. He will quite happily in the pub or out for a meal inject.

    Still confused about statins

Been on them a couple of years now and can't say they have given me any problems. My dad had a heart attack leaving him severely brain damaged. Had my cholesterol checked and they put me straight on them.

    Insulin side effects?

Strange it's on the one hand? Is it patchy or just all over the back of it?

    Type 2

Hopefully modified release will be good with you. They always start with standard one as it cheap. The MR version costs more. Loads of people struggle with the standard one with cramps

    Type 2

For me they did for anything over 500mg. Can tolerate 500 but any more and I'm in agony. I tried gliclazide which was 10 times worse (would be awake all night in agony). Do you suffer from ibs or anything like that?

    Insulin side effects?

Nothing about it in the product leaflet. Perhaps it is just my bgs returning to normal. I feel so weird with lower blood sugar. I've been used to it being mid teens all the time it felt normal! Thanks everybody for the suggestions anyway.

    Insulin side effects?

Started insulin on Friday. I'm type 2 and can't stomach oral meds with my ibs and gastric reflux. I'm on novamix 30, started 6 units twice a day, now upto 8u and looking at 10u Friday. I've noticed that the hair on my arms has grown longer. I'm not particularly hairy but since Friday I seem to...

Getting fed up with this !

I use a agamarix jazz from my doctors. Sure it's the cheapest thing they could get as every few strips it gives errors. Perhaps try increasing your needle depth to get a larger sample?

    Ideal levels?

I've heard the same. The diabetic nurse who to be fair has a lot more dealings with diabetes tends to be more realistic on what's available than say a gp who reads it out of a book and it's set in stone. 7 sounds great to me but the lower the better I suppose

Type 2 - diagnosed this week

When I was diagnosed it was for bloods taken as I had tingling in my fingers (turned out to be carpal tunnel syndrome) the doctors called me up to make an appointment ASAP. When I went in I was quiet anxious. The Dr had someone else in with her and broke the news to me like I was terminal...

Type 2s - what do you think caused your diabetes?

Mine coincided with a lot of stress and yoyo dieting I think. I was in hospital for months with my wife when she suffered pacenta previa. Nearly lost her and my son. as for the dieting I lost several stone, put it back on, lost it again put some of it back on. Tried lots of different diets and...

    Frustrated with Metformin

Didn't find sitagliptin much better either. DN reckoned you should loose weight on it but I gained a stone. Felt so sick too

    Frustrated with Metformin

I had nothing but problems on Metformin. Was changed to MR at 1500mg which really caused me pain. I also suffer gastric reflux and ibs and have struggled with most oral diabetic meds. Found gliclazide to be the worst, was up most nights in agony. Only rake 500mg Mr now once a day with novamix 30...
