What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Haven't "reported in" for a couple of days as I've been too busy, but all has been well. Today's fasting was 6.4

    Biscuits or Crackers

I used to be a huge crackers and cheese fan - esp at this time of year. Nowadays they send my BGs through the roof so I've gone to Corn thins. They are just as nice, crisp and go well with cheese. They are quite high carb But the sugars are very low so it seems my body can handle a couple at a...

    Low Carb Bread question

Not part of my experience. I eat 1/2 slices of a low carb ancient grain bread occasionally without too much effect on my BGs and my tum seems to handle it pretty well

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I'm not sure if it will work for you, but 2 weeks ago my BGs were hitting 14.2 and that scared the pants off me, so I immediately rejigged my diet and every time my BGs were high, I either went for a 20 min walk, or I "walked on the spot" for about the same time. I wouldn't describe the...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

7.4 for me today, making two days in a row that I've been "within limits". Still not as good as I had back in 2016 but much improved, so I'm happy

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

It's been a good day with a fasting result of 7.4 and for the most part all my results have been within limits.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

A much healthier 7.4 today. Still higher than I would like so more work to do

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast was muesli made from 1/2 cup of oats and berries in unsweetened soya milk, lunch I wasn't hungry and BGs were slightly up anyway. Tea was homemade vegan chilli (carrot, quinoa, chopped toms, onion and leek) served with a small "hash" of peas, mushrooms, toms. onions and 20g (raw of...

    Blood Sugar monitoring

I use the SD Codefree monitor to fingerprick test. The unit costs about £14, the strips are about £45 for 259 though there is a code to get 20% discount and the sharps to prick your fingers are about £2.50 for 50. I've had mine for about 7 years and never had a problem with it and as it all...

How much weight have YOU lost?

Thanks for the good wishes. I think your weight loss has been astonishing and I have no doubt the remaining pounds will fly off

How much weight have YOU lost?

I just can't begin to agree with you more! This is so true. I lived for some time in Portugal and learned to enjoy the coffee shop culture. - something I've continued on my return to the UK. But I'm always astonished when they serve a small biscuit with my coffee as it was never part of my...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

In 2016 the diabetic nurse told me I didn't need to test and at that time my Hba1c was 56. I ignored her and tested until it dropped to 38 and was in total remission - then I relaxed disciplines and stopped testing. On Dec 2nd I had the results of my latest test and it came back as 101!! At...

How much weight have YOU lost?

Hi @Prancy well it wouldn't be accurate to say that I am following a rigid plan but I am being ultra careful. I don't calorie count as I want to live as near a normal life as posssibleand most people don't count calories. I do fingerprick before and after every meal so I'm learning what foods...

    Welcome to the Vegetarian/Vegan Forum

Hi peeps, I haven't checked out this thread in many months and it seems to have largely died. Are there any other veggies or veegs monitoring this thread? How about swapping recipes? I'm vegan (now, although I've been veggie since about 1983. I turned vegan several years ago), living in Devon...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. Woke up this morning after a really ghastly nightmare last night but dramatically improved emotionally when I tested and had a fasting result of 8.8. I know it's still over, but having been 14.2 a week ago, I'm a very happy bunny.
