    Diet Soda, Fruit Juice substitute?

Stop worrying about the fat content. Drink the one that tastes best to you. Are you allergic to diet soda? If not, why can't you drink them?

    Frustrated

If you are talking about the 600 calorie diet please reconsider. Is your problem weight or blood glucose levels or both?

I'm being tested for Diabetes and confused with the readings

Repeating my reply from your other topic. Those results are quite clear. If your doctor is competent you are about to be told you have diabetes, most likely type 2 diabetes. While you wait for that advice please read this: Getting Started

    Blood Sugar Readings

The work you have done has produced excellent results, but you should have been diagnosed as diabetic when your HbA1c was 79. You have done a wonderful job, but I'm sorry to tell you the condition is manageable but presently incurable. Do you have a home blood glucose test meter? If not, I urge...

Chromium: Am I wasting my time?

Are you wasting your time and money? Almost certainly. Next question? Actually, I have some: What was on the menu today? When did you test, related to those meals and what numbers did you see?

    Introduce Myself

I was diagnosed when I was 54 and still remember the shock. That was 12 years ago. I wrote this, based on my experiences since then, to help newly diagnosed type 2: Getting Started

    Such Different Readings

You have already had good replies about the difference. I'd be happy with either result post-meal, but I test at my peak rather than two hours. That timing tells you a lot more about the affect of a meal on your glucose levels. Do you know when you peak?

    diet

You're eating a high carbohydrate load at those meals even though the total calories may not be a lot. How long ago were you diagnosed and were you diagnosed type 1 or type 2? I'm guessing the latter, but it's probably best not to guess. When do you test and what numbers are you seeing at...

    Diet Help needed

LIndt is just a brand. I am happy to try any 70% cocoa - or higher - chocolate. However, I don't just read the percentage on the label, I also look at the carb count., Some manufacturers add extra sugar to balance the higher cocoa content, so we still need to read labels. One reason I like the...

    glucose test

Ally, I've browsed through the comments since I was here a couple of days ago. Just a few points which may help. On portion sizes a little thing which helped me in my weight loss phase was to change from a dinner plate to a 'bread and butter' plate for most of my meals. I'm not sure what you...

    Meter readings

Never be alarmed by test results. Instead, be educated. If they are high (or low) try to work out the cause then change that factor next time for better future results.

    impaired glucose tolerance to diabetes

Sorry, I worded it badly. The trip was a year ago, I've just been lazy writing about it :). If you're interested there is a link to the travel blog on the diabetes blog. You will find lots of pages on parts of Europe there too. What part of Oz are you in?

    What to do with "Sugars"?

The part missing from that menu is your blood glucose level at your peak after each of those meals. Do you test at that time? If not, consider it. My meter has shown me I could not eat your breakfast and lunch without a large BG spike an hour later.

Question. Is it inevitable that Type2 will have to go on Insulin???

The answer is no. I refuse to accept inevitability of things like insulin, although I do not fear it. My goal is to avoid complications, not meds or insulin. If eventually it is necessary I will add it to the regimen. The statistics are not based on pro-active type 2s using the web and other...

    Is this tiredness usual ?

Trying to manage type 2 without a meter is like trying to fly a light plane through the Alps in a blizzard without instruments. You might land safely, but the odds are against it. This may help until you get one: What to Eat Until You Get Your Meter. Please make a meter and a good supply of test...

Not sure I'm going to sleep tonight

Always keep in mind your doctor is your paid expert medical advisor. The doctor is neither your boss, your director nor a parent. Think of it like the mechanic who repairs your car. You would not accept an ****-kicking form the mechanic if poor driving technique was causing mechanical problems...
