I second the “prevent the spike to begin with “. If you follow the low carb diet the spikes shouldn’t be too bad. Why pump more chemicals into your body to cure the avoidable.

It tends to be before dinner - about 5 to 6 hours after lunch so in retrospect could well be. Bs was 5.6

Fasting normally 5.4 to 5.7 and bedtime 5.5 to 5.6. Random daytime always below 6.00

So diagnosed 14 months ago - went on lchf diet. Down from just over 17 stone to just under 13 stone. Last HBA1C was 5.7 BUT still occasionally get my original symptom of peeing a lot for the odd half day and lightheaded ness. Does anyone else get this?

I use accucheck mobile. It takes a 50 test cassette. As my bs is not too bad I don’t test more than 3 times a day. If I did the cassettes are expensive

Thanks John! So I assume my blood sugar may well rise in middle of evening once alcohol has reduced. I’m not a regular drinker but occasionally, like after Sunday dinner like 3 glasses of wine

A little oddity. After a year I have my bs down to 5.7 to 6.2 (fasting). One the odd night like tonight I have 3 glasses of my favourite claret with dinner and my reading before eating was 6.5 but 2 hours after only 5.1. Have I found the miraculous cure for high blood sugar!!! Meal was braising...
