    Pioglitazone

I think, @ranmis you have some serious questions to ask your GP. And if they remain resistant to answering them, maybe go to a different GP for a second opinion?

    fasting first time

Quite simply, a blood test can be recheduled, your health cannot be. Do what you can to maintain the fasting but if you face an emergency situation, you have to deal with it accordingly. Is the test for an HbA1c? ALso, have a look at this thread which deals with a similar question to yours...

    Horrendous Headaches Upon Waking

Delighted to report that I woke up this morning completely headache free! Last night, I drank my water in slower gulps and, just before lying down, drank an Oxo Cube tea before drifting off. I woke up horrendously thirsty, but without any of the awful headache that's been marking my mornings...

    Dr. Gary Fettke news

... I'm gobsmacked. But, sadly, not really surprised. Thank you (Sadly) for posting this. I support Gary.

Jardiance newbie, low carb ideas please.

Hey, happy Jardiance user with lots of positive stuff to report here (I tend to call it "GlucoPee"). Like you (and lots of others) I was really, really anxious before I started taking it back in June. I couldn't tolerate Metformin at all, so was put onto Jardiance 25mg. The first couple of...

    Apparently I am cured!!!!

Don't expect anything, instead prepare. Even if that means making a list of things you want to say / ask and taking it with you so you're almost reading from a script. If it's a new GP, you can even be honest about having low expectations after being disappointed by your previous care. Don't be...

    Good day so far

Everyone has bad days. Without them, how would we know we're having good ones? Congratulations on that reading!

    New Snack Identified!

Aaaw, @Sue192 - wanna be my Partner in Snacking? (We'd have to find a much better name for that, because its abbreviation isn't flattering). But, also, what if we put the onions on skewers, rolled them in the cheese, coated them in smashed-up nutty crackers, and then... wait for it... put them...

    Pioglitazone

Heya, @ranmis and welcome! Before I go any further, let me tag in @daisy1 who has lots of lovely info that you might find useful. Okay so I'm neither pharmacist nor GP nor DN. The first thing I did was google the medication...

    New Snack Identified!

Well, now I think about it, it's probably only new for me and, actually the idea isn't that new at all. In fact people have been smooshing these two things together for quite sometime... Okay, it should be: "Sock Encounters An Old Snack Idea In A New Form!" Aldi silver-skin pickled onions (I'm...

    Fluoxetine

Here's the thing about NHS talking therapies in the UK that your GP probably didn't tell you: the waiting lists are monstrous and if you walked into your surgery tomorrow and said "I really need to talk to someone about this" it could be as long as 6 or 7 months before your referral rose to the...

Struggling to find the motivation to look after myself.

No advice, no pithy words of kindness or wisdom. Just a link: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/emotions/diabetes-burnout.html You're at the start of a process. Walk it and stay with us. You don't have to post. If you do post, you don't have to read any of the replies. But you're welcome, you're not...

Nausea - due to HF / Metformin

Perhaps, and I didn't in any way endorse that as a generalised target for all diabetics, no matter their type or situation. But I know that my meds - with potentially life-threatening side-effects - are something I'm eager to stop taking when I feel the time is right and I'm confident of my...

    Scared!!

Hey, welcome back! I'm a little divided on how to reply (being someone who also fell off the good management wagon, though I'm T2 and it was only for 6 months or so), so I'll do a sort of good friend, bad friend thing? Bad friend: Sometimes you have to pay the piper! You (for whatever reason)...

Nausea - due to HF / Metformin

(Double post apologies) A further thought: Many, many, many of us have exactly that long-term ambition, to "dump the meds" and become diet-controlled only. And if we strictly followed the NHS and our DN / GP's suggested regimes, us T2s would be able to count significantly less functioning limbs...

Nausea - due to HF / Metformin

While it's true that posters should never specifically direct people on medication, that's not to say that there's a wealth of experience and we can't offer our own advice given someone's particular situation. The OP asked her GP to prescribe - the GP didn't initialise the treatment. And it's...

Nausea - due to HF / Metformin

Sorry! Wasn't suggesting Peperami for breakfast - just as a carry-round snack (which is why I mentioned that it doesn't need to be in the fridge). Incidentally, though, fat will absolutely not have any impact on your BG at all. Protein will produce lower rises that decline slowly, and carbs...
