    Music Fan?

As a young student (I am now a mature student!) we used to visit a specific bar every lunchtime to listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd on the juke box. We thought we were so cool.

    Coconut oil

It is also brilliant for shaving armpits and legs (and I suppose elsewhere too).

Sugar free soft drinks / mixers with NO ASPARTAME!

@Safi I get that. About 15 years ago I decided to go low fat as that was the trend then. I look at all my usual dishes, adapted them to low fat. I would serve them up to family and friends, not telling them it was low fat and they would be non the wiser. Now, I am looking at all my usual dishes...

    Red Bush Rooibos Tea

I have tried both Rooibos and Green Tea, cannot abide either. I don't like sweet hot drinks so I think that is why I dislike the Rooibos as well as fruit teas. Green tea just tastes muddy to me but my son assures me it is a brilliant hangover cure. I have not had tea since my diabetes diagnosis...

    Messing about in the garden

Oh my, that is so tidy. My garden isn't tidy. :(

Sugar free soft drinks / mixers with NO ASPARTAME!

Perhaps an elderflower cordial (homemade with stevia)?

    Frustrated!

NHS dieticians recite what the current guidelines are (actually, much the same as practice nurses and GPs, you would think they had never gained a degree in their field). I had issues with dietary advice from an NHS dietician when my late husband was ill. He was terminal and they were stressed...

Sugar free soft drinks / mixers with NO ASPARTAME!

@rowan shopping takes an age with all the label checking. I am considering putting a magnifying glass in my handbag as the damned writing is so small. No, that won't look eccentric at all. :wacky:

    B****y surgery!

My experience of complaints is with local government, apparently you have to state very clearly in a letter that 'I am making a complaint' otherwise they regard your letter as a comment. I know it is not the council you are complaining about but I reckon it is best practise to state it is a...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I am quite new, so haven't been on a course yet. Having discovered this site with all the fantastic advice and links to more advice, I am wondering if the NHS course will be a bit of a yawn. Of course I will go but I am worried I won't be able to keep my mouth shut if they tell me not to test my...

Coconut flour? That sounds interesting. Do you just substitute weight for weight with ordinary flour in a recipe? I have been carrying on baking in my usual way for others and just not eating any. Not even a spoon link!

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Not tested for a day and a bit as I was waiting for new strips to arrive. This morning was 7.7, a bit high for my liking but weekends are topsy turvy for me with meals and sleep times.

Best thing to do with UKIP, not listen to them.

    I've done something silly

I had my first post diagnosis podiatry appointment this week, was told everything was fine, good pulse and sensation. He advocatrd filing not moisturising to deal with hard skin. I do still experience pins and needles in my hands and on my scalp, neither my gp nor dn appear remotely interested...

Where have all those words and expressions gone ?

Those words never have nor never will pass my lips.

Where have all those words and expressions gone ?

Ha ha, the soup in a basket never really worked either. Nowadays in restaurants your food is served up on slate roof tiles, call me old fashioned, but plates really are the best tool for the job.

    Music Fan?

Mary Gauthier is someone I am liking a lot recently. Ricky Ross (of Deacon Blue fame) plays her a lot on his Radio Scotland programme, 'Another Country'
