Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I am a committed low carber @Baruney , I actually said to the nurse if I wanted to know the NICE dietary guidelines I could read them on the internet. That was a lead balloon. I have prior experience of NHS dieticians when my late husband was terminally ill and they obsessed with his weight...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

6.2 this morning. I have been absent from parade recently due to the birth of my gorgeous grandson. Back on it now. Blood test at the medical practise today, eagerly awaiting results at diabetic clinic next week. The practise nurse went in a bit of a huff when I refused a meeting with the dietician.

And it will only get worse now. The cost of employment tribunals are generally more than most working people can afford and the Human Rights Act is under threat.

    Sudden Vision Change

I was told that it is not advisable to have an eye test and change prescription during the first year following diagnosis. The reason being that your eyesight can change with the changing blood glucose levels.

    diagnosed yesterday type2

Stay calm @No_lie , it has overwhelmed us all at the beginning. I don't eat chicken, turkey or lamb, I don't eat any meat but I can still low carb. I felt like my new way of eating was restrictive at first, but now it is easy to manage and I am exploring new recipes every day. If I don't have...

    Hello

Welcome to the forum @jellying. Another veggie here, and yes, that adds some challenges to low carbing, but you will manage fine. It takes a wee while to get used to but before you know it, it will be second nature and you will be in control of this beast. There are still lots of recipe ideas...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

4.8 this morning. Exam week over now and glad about that. I think I can say that stress has an adverse effect on my blood glucose levels over the past few weeks. More time on my hands now to experiment with new low carb recipes (the coconut flour is sitting waiting to be used) and also make...

    Any recommended cold remedies please

Regular use of a Netipot helps keep the sinuses healthy, but if you have any kind of blockage it will hurt like hell. I find Echinacea more effective in tincture form than tablets. Hot lemon drinks, curries and saunas will all help with symptoms, but a cold will run its course.

    Thanks for the help

@WeeFergus chippy chips, nice and chunky. Cannot be doing with 'fries' or crips. There is a bit of shrinkage when you roast them. My non diabetic son loves them, I wonder sometimes if I just like my food because I have too.

    Thanks for the help

I marinade the celeriac 'chips" in oil before roasting in the oven. You can add any herbs or spices to the marinade, curry spices work well.

@chris lowe , Nick Cave was awesome. Amazing sound, brilliant set and his sexiness just oozed out of him.

    Music Fan?

Liam Clancy had a song to the tune of The Sach, cannot remember what it was called (will ask my son) but it certainly did not echo the sentiments of The Sash! On a similar note I heard an English folk ssong on the radio to the tune of 'the Billy boys' a well know sectarian song in Scotlanf. The...

My son really liked this version but it caused a dilemma for me as I love Lenny big time as well as Nick.
