HBa1C Test - Been told to wait

A knee replacement is certainly the equivalent of an injury - so certain to have raised his BG, as was (I presume) any pain he was having from his knee before the op.

All other avenues? - Or just all other T2 diabetes medicines?

2 eggs boiled fried, poached or scrambled would only be around 1gm of carbs (provided no bread was added).

Gestational Diabetes to type 2 possibly?

The most important thing is to verify that the test strips are in-date and that the numbers are correct. Those numbers are high, particularly before tea. If no snack between lunch and tea that means 2hrs after Lunch may have been very high. There are about 40 things apart from food which can...

    Metformin and Metformin slow release

There is certainly some evidence of possible cardiovascular protection, but I don't know how strong the evidence is. Same with possible longevity effects.

    Metformin and Metformin slow release

You can't do all the methods at the same time. Here is a link to the blog post which got me started on my path to T2D remission (been in remission over 3yrs now): https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html Either try that one first, or whichever other one takes your...

    Mastering Diabetes programme

I'm a Type 2 diabetic as well. But I feel my experience of carbohydrates and insulin resistance is relevant to give an opinion of the claims of the Mastering Diabetes crowd. 1. Their high carb plant based approach makes no sense when you consider that it is carbs that digest into the glucose...

    Medication and diet

Hi @Limelight While I have never taken any Diabetes medication, I have exchanged posts in this and in the other major UK based diabetes forum, with many who have taken and some who still take Metformin. 3 things you should know: 1. While Metformin alone is extremely unlikely to put your...

Good book recommendations for the clueless!

The thing that set me on the right path was much shorter than a book. It was this Blog post by one of our members: https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html

Good book recommendations for the clueless!

Whether Diabetes is reversible depends upon your outlook. I feel that being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, and gaining remission from high Blood Glucose through a Low Carb way of eating is the best thing that ever happened to my health! - Just the possibility of daily injections, of blindness...

How do I get rid of diabetes?

Hi @Talya2022 Nothing is guaranteed. Firstly, some slim people have Type 2 diabetes. I was/am one of them, I was Thin Outside, Fat Inside (TOFI). So there is no guarantee that losing weight will even control much less reverse diabetes on its own! Secondly, all carbohydrates when digested turn...

    Diet for Type 2 Diabetes

I don't know how much heating of food you or your wife can manage, so please forgive me if some things I suggest are not practicable for you. What you eat is causing a lot of your high Blood Glucose, so let's take it meal by meal highlighting the problem areas: Breakfast Orange Juice contains...

    Diet for Type 2 Diabetes

Don't worry about exercise in a gym. Can you walk? Can you lift a can of ham repeatedly? - That's about the level of exercise that is needed. More is better, but what you eat (or don't eat makes a much bigger difference. You can't out-run or out-exercise a poor or unsuitable diet!

    Diet for Type 2 Diabetes

Hi @Iain7819 and welcome to the forum. So sorry to hear of your problems and that you have had no advice from GP. In any case a lot has changed since 2014 regarding advice to Type 2 diabetics. All carbohydrates (when digested) turn into glucose which goes into our Bloodstream. Type 2 diabetes...

    Reducing A1c

Those numbers, especially that big a rise for breakfast and lunch doesn't seem right for an ordinary Type 2 based upon what you say you are eating, unless you are eating a huge amount of it. Though I can understand it more with dinner - because of the legumes. Do you like any low carb veg such...

    Reducing A1c

I'm not a fan of Glucose Goddess (my neighbour's son bought him a book by her), I have my own personal diabetes expert which specialises on my diabetes in my body. - It is my BG meter! I am a fan of Dr David Unwin (follow @LowcarbGP on Twitter) but I just learned to 'eat to my meter' and found...

    Type two

hi @Grace30666 and welcome to the forum. Firstly, we can diagnose and can only comment based upon our own experience. Firstly, coming off Metformin has little affect on BG figures and would certainly not cause them to go lower! Which medication(s) are you still on - if any ? Do your BG...

    The Daily Mail Strikes Again

My thoughts are: That's complete rubbish. Yes, Time Restricted Eating works better than a normal 3 meals per day plus snacking, but choose the fasting period so it matches the period of your greatest carbohydrate sensitivity! Reasons for thinking this:- 1. We know by sad experience that the...
