    Get Your Oatmeal!!

I'm lucky, I can eat porridge too, on my non fasting days, I make it with water and frozen add blueberries and raspberries, they soon thaw in the warm mixture, it doesn't cause me to spike and keeps hunger at bay until lunchtime x

Hit a plateau while 5:2 fasting!!

Hi, thanks everyone. On my non fasting days I follow a LCHF diet, rarely eat over my daily allowance. I think I might try the 4:3 the next 2 weeks while off work, (I break up from school this week) and it will be easier while at home as I keep myself busy and have a long 'jobs list!' and I won't...

Hit a plateau while 5:2 fasting!!

Has anybody else got a similar experience? I started 5:2 in January and was steadily losing a pound each week, however, for the last 3 weeks my weight has maintained, I haven't taken any measurements yet as I only do these every 4 weeks, but I really seem to have hit a plateau. I have tried...

    metformin and alcohol

I enjoy a few drinks now and then too, wine, cider, Gin & slim line tonic or even a couple of cocktails and had no problems, I also ensure that I eat either just before or while I'm drinking alcohol though. x

Hubby not losing anymore weight on hflc diet

If he is eating 'loads' of cheese, that could be it, cheese has no carbs but is full of fat, eating a LCHF diet does say not to eat too much cheese though because of the calorie content, might be worth looking at portion control too. Hope this helps and he gets back on track, well done in...

Fasting is just stupid..... says my husband!

I have to admit, my husband was a bit hesitant when I said about doing the 5:2, worried about my sugar levels etc. I could understand his concern, until I got him to watch the Horizon programme with Michael Moseley and also after promising to always have some food with me in case I feel...

    Every Lidl helps ...

My local Lidl staff are great like that too, after I explained that they were great for diabetics, and if I ask them to save me half a dozen, they happily do! :)

    Metoformin on fast days??

I am currently doing the 5:2 fast diet, quite successfully and having a steady weight loss of 1 pound each week. I have been taking my Metformin (1 x 500mg) 1 with breakfast and 1 with evening meal, but have just read that I shouldn't be taking it on fast days, is this true??? Has anybody else...

could intermittent fasting be the solution

I usually eat breakfast around 7.30am, lunch (if I'm hungry) around 1pm, then evening meal (again if I'm hungry) around 5.30pm, I don't eat after that time, but that is the same all week (except weekends), fasting on non-consecutive days, Monday and Wednesday suit me after the weekend.

    Diabetes and the Hospital

Three years ago I had open heart surgery, my diabetes was managed very well and my diet was taken into consideration a great deal. I was in the QE in Birmingham for 7 weeks and have to say, I was very well looked after, particularly my dietary needs. :)
