    Libre

There was a post on the Libre Facebook page asking people not to approach their GPs yet. Although it's available on prescription from 1st November trusts will individually need to agree funding and their own criteria. Many will not have budgeted for it this year so it may not get agreement until...

Sad to hear Animas pulling out from Pumping

I have just seen this and am quite worried. I have been on Animas all my pumping life and it works really well for me. Very nervous about having to change. My DSN said the medtronic is much bigger too and that's the one complaint they hear about it. I didn't really want a bigger pump!!

where do you put your cannulas?

I can't use my stomach but I use my love handles all the way round to my back and next to my spine - although not close enough to risk a home epidural! The area on my back is above the waistline so no issues with my jeans rubbing. I also use the area just above my waistline at the front between...

    Reading of above 33.3

The first time I had peshwari naan I almost ended up in hospital!! I don't eat any rice when I have a curry takeaway but I have a naan sometimes instead. Naans are upwards of 80 carbs each so pretty bad on BG and the fat in curry can delay the BG rise which complicates things. That night I'd...

    Little veins at sites

@Snapsy yes that's the area but they are small and spaced out enough that I can probably avoid them. Just hope more don't appear. If it's weight related maybe they will go as I lose the weight. @azure these are very thin like hairs but they do look like a tiny portion of spider veins images...

    Little veins at sites

I don;t know actually. These look exactly like purple thread veins and I always thought stretch marks were red but I could be wrong. I googled strech marks and spider veins came up and they look similar. Does that mean I don;t have to avoid them for cannulas?

    Little veins at sites

I tend to do it about an hour after a shower and I don't pinch as you have to keep inset II flat to fire the device. I have plenty of fat there without pinching as I've gained weight earlier in the year due to being on steroids. Not sure if being overweight might be a factor in them. I'm not...

    Little veins at sites

If I stop using my hips I have very little in the way of other sites. My legs/arms are too thin, too painful and were always a problem with mdi too. My stomach doesn't work due to scar tissue from years of mdi. I currently use my hips round to my back, then 4 sites across my front below my ribs...

    Little veins at sites

The sites it's happening on are my hips. So far not happening in other regions but it's on both sides.

    Little veins at sites

I've been pumping for almost 6 years now. Recently I have noticed little thread veins that are quite visible near my cannula sites. The first one I thought was coincidence but there are a few more appearing near sites now. I rotate very carefully and haven't changed anything to do with my pump...

    Cannula site bad days

I can't use my stomach after years if injecting there. My arms are also too thin and I wear my libre sensors there. I use my hips (starting just outside my stomach area) all the way round to my back and this works really well. I can go quite close to the spine without issue but I am careful not...

    Pumping through menopause

So it looks like I'm starting an earlyish menopause and it's starting to cause me some BG issues. For at least a year I have been finding that in the middle of the month (not during my period but a few weeks before) I suddenly get very insulin resistant and have high BG. When it first happened I...

    Animas considering quitting diabetic market

I love my Animas so was not happy to read this article. Might explain why the new pump they said would be launching in 2016 didn't happen. http://www.healthline.com/diabetesmine/jnj-diabetes-evaluating-business#5

Hives all over - cannula insertion

@DM500 I saw the emergency doctor today and asked about the bandage but he wants me to try steroids first. Given me 6 tablets a day for a week and wants me to have allergy testing. Hoping the steroids work quick but also expecting my BG to fluctuate now as I've heard steroids do that. Anything...

Hives all over - cannula insertion

We do have an out of hours doctor and I am going to call them first thing tomorrow of it's no better by then. I will ask about steroids and that bandage, although I'd need to cover my whole body in it! The whole thing still seems so weird to me because I have never. ever had anything like this...

Hives all over - cannula insertion

The doctor has prescribed Loratadine (Claritin) once daily but so far it doesn't really appear to be doing anything. My skin is so itchy it's impossible not to scratch and I've cut myself in some places. I also have all these lumps under the skin from the hives. I am trying to drink lots of...

Hives all over - cannula insertion

I googled that but no it looks exactly like the images of allergic hives. Huge red patches and swollen lumps and I itch all over.

    Pump strap and high readings

How often do you change your insulin? If it is going off you should get ok readings after a pump refill and then they get steadily worse.

Hives all over - cannula insertion

well the rash appeared a little better around lunch so I managed to find a clearish space and put my cannula in and it's working fine. However this evening the rash has flared up again so that means it's maybe not peanuts or persil as I have been avoiding both and rewashed all my clothes...
