Problems with infusion sets for 12-24 hours

Stoney it's not a daft question at all :) My DSN said that with some pumpers pulling the set out caused some insulin to leak back out of the skin, therefore causing high BG readings after set change. She said to leave the old one in for 4 hours. I also do this as back up incase my set fails...

Problems with infusion sets for 12-24 hours

I used to get high BG for quite a while after a set change until I worked out that I set my basal at +150% for 2 hours after a change and I always leave the old set in 6 hours too. Have been pumping for 2 years now and this always works for me.

suitable pump for 8yr old girl

Just to correct you can get the Animas Vibe if you want the option of adding a self-funded CGM. I have the Animas 2020 and it's fab. I have visual issues so it's the only one I could read clearly. I thought I'd want a remote but to be honest as I've never had one I didn't really think about it...

    First HbA1c since pump

and it's 5.3!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D Have been on the pump two years now and as some of you will remember I had a very rocky start. At one point I almost quit. After support and help on here I managed to get into a great routine and it's really paying off. Also only one kinked...

    Burning heel - scared

Noblehead they don't seem to concerned about checking feet and I normally have to mention it to get them looked at. The registrar then hits my feet with that metal thing and pokes them with a pin and it's done in a few minutes. Maybe that's all that's needed but it never feels looked at...

No I don't think so. Is that significant?

    Burning heel - scared

I have recently started experiencing a burning sensation in one of my feet, on the heel. Is this neuropathy? My diabetic clinic never properly checks my feet but I went to a chiropodist privately almost a year ago. I have an old verrucca which I discussed removing but he said it can cause more...

    Animas stiff plungers

Hello A while ago I opened a box of animas resevoirs to do a cartridge fill and noticed the plunger was much stiffer to move up and down. It did move but took noticably more force. Once inserted my sugars ran higher and I needed to add a temp basal. I wasn't sure if it was the plungers or not...

    Rapid-D Link Removal - help!!

You can also use a cotton bud dipped in baby oil to soak the sticky part and then it just peels off. I have gone back to teflon sets but when I tried steel ones like yours I found the lift off spray really useful.

    thinking of changing back.

Hi Laura What cannula are you using? How are you wearing the pump at night? I have only woken up once with almost DKA due to a set failing in the night and that scared the hell out of me. I can't imagine having to cope every month. I used to worry about pulling my set out at night but I use...

    Huge Weight Gain

I can relate totally to your distress having suffered from body issues leading to diabulimia in the past. I too have retinopathy issues, although mine were triggered by tightening my control too quickly followed by 2 nhs blunders  I gained weight quickly went I was put on Levemir while...

    Site absorption issue?

Thanks everyone :) I rotate very carefully in a set order and always change set every 3rd day unless I'm ill or need to leave set extra day to move cannula change for special events. I've only been pumping 18 months and never injected this area so not sure why this is happening. I can avoid it...

    Site absorption issue?

Carbsrok I do have the box of 8mm but haven't used them yet as still nervous about them and since your advice I have been doing so much better. I do need to try and calm down and also to have more faith in the pump. As I'm not getting kinking issues and most changes are going smoother too I...

    Site absorption issue?

To update 3.5 hours post breakfast BG 9.4 so set is working but these are very high levels for me. I'm normally under 8 so not enjoying this. Supposed to be going out for lunch, which I will still do but now will be a little worried about BG when eating. Will bolus in little bits and have large...

    Site absorption issue?

So I'm slowly getting better at pumping and becoming much less anxious. Since New Year I haven't fired my iset into the air pre insertion and so far I haven't had any kinks :D However today I am having weird readings post blous and wondering if the site is not working as it should. I changed...

    Disappointed ..

Have you been ill recently and had high BG? If your sugars are good now that does sound strange. I'm interested to see if others have an answer but I would feel upset in your position.

Tips for being ill on the pump

So yesterday my BG was on the high side but I thought it was the stress of my son being in hospital last night. I have stayed over with him and in the morning I set a temp basal of +30% to cover stress. His procedure went smoothly but as the day went on I began to suspect I was ill. I was...

How do you decided if a working set is not working correctly

Re: How do you decided if a working set is not working corre Just to top my day off when doing my resevoir fill at lunch my pump totally crashed out at the end of the rewind. I had to take the battery out to reset and then call Animas, who just said "these things happen". Just hope it's not...
