    Pump end

Prin how do you wear it on the side?!? Doesn't it stop you putting your arm down properly? I wear mine on my bra but at the front clipped onto the middle section. I have got very fast at slipping it on and off lol!! Would love to know how to wear it your way as an option.

Candi-girl Animas are great like that. Just called and ordered a box of 8mm contact detach (wanted plenty to try as I have a good feeling these may work well for me!) and they are on their way. I have Inset 30 samples that arrived next day but I've been too cowardly to try them. The first time...

    Pump end

CarbsRok I'm sorry I had no idea the Animas was so bad. I must be lucky, so far, that mine hasn't done those things. It does make me wonder what will happen to my pump with time. In the meantime I just want to try and get the sets sorted. Having been on another pump do you feel the Animas set...

    Pump end

Hmmm I think you may have a faulty Animas pump CarbsRok. Mine never keeps going like that. It always stops as soon as I take my finger off. It's also never told me it isn't primed or anything like that. I have a friend on the 2020 also who doesn't have these issues. Have you spoken to Animas...

    Pump end

CarbsRok do you mind if I ask why you don't like the Animas? As it's my only pump I have nothing to compare it to. My DSN insisted it was the only pump I could have due to my reduced vision. I'm hoping by the time my 4 years is up there'll be more choice with good displays :)

Can basal need changes be this dramtic?

Didn't do basal test but did BG at 3am and was 5.1 BG at 8am 7.8. Not sure if this would be a hypo or not but certainly didn't feel like I'd gone low.

    Pump end

I was told it was 4 years, although not sure if it varies by pump or PCT.

Can basal need changes be this dramtic?

Hey DonnellysDogs!!! Did you get my email? Are you all settled now? :) I am going to do a couple of BG checks at night, also just so I can correct if needed. CarbsRok is right though I need to wait until I try the 8mm steels to do basal adjustment.

Can basal need changes be this dramtic?

So for a long, long time my overnight basal has been spot on and I wake up with BG between 4 and 5. For the last 3 weeks or so I've had a cold but it didn't seem to have done that much to my BG I've also had some set issues so I've been more stressed. Anyway I noticed I was waking with higher...

Numbing cream doesn't work with the phobia. I use it before giving blood for my HbA1c and it doesn't help. I managed to use the 6mm fine once I realised that they didn't hurt. I have thought about using 8mm but was concerned I would hit muscle with them. Often for me the bolus stings with 1u or...

I had wondered about the 8mm ones but had thought they might hurt more. Do you mind if I ask why you think they are better? I'm currently using 6mm Insets so I'd like to try the 6mm first, as also I know I can bring myself to insert these. Also my bolus always stings a bit and so I thought 8mm...

CarbsRok I did it!!! I fired in without firing in the air first! Probably sounds silly to people but I'm so nervous of the set I'd got into the habit of doing that to prepare myself. If there is even a chance that firing straight in sorts my issues better I'm prepared to do it. Have also put...

CarbsRok thank you for taking the time to reply. I find your comments very helpful and I am very keen to try the Contact D again. I am going to ask Animas for a new box just incase the other one was faulty. With regards to putting the sets in the fridge/porch I never did that until the hot...

Thanks Candi-girl. I must admit I am petrified of the angled ones but I now have a young son and I need to find a more reliable set so that I don't have to try and manage failed cannulas while caring for a toddler! CarbsRok this is what I do for a set change: I fire 50% of my hourly basal rate...

Please can you answer a question for me - how often do your Insets fail? I spoke to my DSN about changing set type as I get worried about whether my Inset is working. She said Insets kink and as long as I'm only getting one about every 2 months it's normal. She said I would find the same issue...

    Cannula sites

Hello I also use the Inset II sets and only use my stomach and hips. I have been pumping a year and have come across many people who only use this area for a long time with no issues. I don't have any fat on my legs or arms so those aren't options for me. I rotate on my right side moving from...

    Too anxious to use pump?

Cheryl I am in awe that you have managed to go so long without a set issue! I can't even imagine going 6 months without one, let alone 2.5 years. I would feel so differently about the pump if it was like that for me. I have decided to be brave and try some new sets. I am petrified but I think I...

    Too anxious to use pump?

CarbsRok I'm very interested in your Contact D technique. With the batch I used I found that the sticky patch didn't hold as well as the Inset. I don't use any body lotion or anything that would cause issues and I don't sweat much either. I have never had an issue with the Insets sticking. I...

    Too anxious to use pump?

Cheryl I have reduced vision and so was worried I might not be able to use a manual angled set like that - what do you think? I particularly worry about getting the angle right. When I tried steel sets I used the Animas Contact detach and found the manual insertion no problem. However my sugars...

    Too anxious to use pump?

Candi-girl how do you calculate your insulin needs for MDI? My DSN didn't tell me how to work out the insulatard etc. How do you move across? Riri I think you WILL feel better in a few months time. I hated the pump at first but as things settled and I got more used to it it was better. It's now...
