    Too anxious to use pump?

I've been pumping a year now and I'm wondering if I'm too anxious to use a pump. I could really do with some support and advice because I don't know what to do. On MDI I really, really struggled to get control. My HbA1c was around 8 at my best. However I accepted this was my fate and overall...

    Anyone had this?

I have just done a search online and found numerous other posts in pumping forums about Animas sets falling apart. This is a known problem and I'm very annoyed that Animas have not notified people about it. It is not just the UK either :x

    Anyone had this?

Jopar has your friend reported the set issues? I'm pretty sure it's the sets and not my pump. All the problems have been recently since the set quality seems to have gone downhill. Animas have just asked for a couple of the sets thats fall apart to be sent back. I'm doing this but don't feel...

    Anyone had this?

Thank you Gayle - your post has given me some hope! I have used the Inset IIs for a year and started storing them in the fridge in March. This had fantastic results and I was pumping almost issue free for ages. Recently I would go to fire a set in and the whole white middle fired out. I was...

    Anyone had this?

Yesterday I did a set change at lunch. In a good spot, nowhere near where I used to inject etc, and BG was great. BG before bed was 6 with tiny bit of insulin left to bring me to target of 5.3 Woke up at 6.30 and felt sick - REALLY sick. Checked pump and all connected. BG 12.4 and I normally...

    How much insulatard?

Ok I am getting worried about my pump/sets etc. I had 4 failed sets last weekend, although they failed due to hitting a blood vessel etc I changed my set yesterday lunch and sugars were spot on. Woke up this morning and felt VERY ill. BG was 12.4 but felt so, so sick - like I had no insulin at...

Tips for getting BGs down quickly

If I was getting highs for a period of time, even over half a day, I put a temporary basal on for 12 hours of an extra 20-30% to start. If that works well I keep it on until things get back to normal. I have found that I get bad blood sugar peaks when I eat more than about 35g of carbs in one...

Anyone else have these runs of bad pumping?

So I've been on the pump over a year now and doing pretty well. I started having kinked cannulas in the summer so my DSN suggested putting my sets in the fridge and this worked really well. After that only the odd issue and I can more quickly spot these before sugars get really bad. That was...

    Lift Plus Spray alternative?

I have Lift Plus spray on prescription but my chemist now says he can't get hold of it. Not sure if it's been stopped. but he can't get anything from that company. Anyone know of a product that does the same thing please?

Pumps and insulin active time - advice needed

Mine is set to 4 hours and as that seems to work well I've seen no reason to change. I'm on Novorapid if that helps :)

    infusion site

Yes I would say that it's linked. I used to be on high bolus levels and, although not as high as yours, I found that it caused site soreness. For me it was also made worse by my pump being the Animas as this delivers the insulin much faster and more powerfully than other pumps, often causing a...

    infusion site

It's not unusual to be left with what pumpers call "pump bumps" but a lump under the skin sounds like your site is getting irritated. I had this in the early days and what helped me was a hot shower before inserting a new set and always changing my set on day 3. I have sensitive skin and have...

Consistent high readings even after corrections?!?

Hi Unicornz I don't use the same sets as you but I'm wondering if they are the problem. When I have the same issues as you it's down to my set being kinked or too close to muscle. Are you using the inserter? Could the angle be wrong? When my sugars stick even with several boluses it's because...

URGENT set change & could BG machine be broken?

Just removed that set and it was kinked but in a curve so some insulin was still getting through  I think this is a problem with Animas. The bolus delivery is so powerful, even on slow, that it can push through kinks. However not all the insulin delivers so ages later I get a no delivery.

New to forum. Pump for 6 yrs. About to give up

Hello Fleur I'm interested to know more about your pumping history. How long have you been on it? How well do you rotate sites and change sets? I have been pumping a year and it's not an easy ride. I have to be very aggressive with my bolus after a set change to be certain it's working. Even...

URGENT set change & could BG machine be broken?

Well looks like it's the set :x Eventually after stacks of insulin last night BG went to 3.3 so treated for hypo and woke up this morning with 5.5. All looked fine but didn't trust the set so luckily had left the old one in. Took my son to his baby group and I start alarming in the middle of...

URGENT set change & could BG machine be broken?

Thanks Jopar. BG dropped to 7.6 (I have eaten some dinner) so now I'm wondering if it's just an inefficient site. I did check hubby's BG and it was 5.8 when mine was 5.1. We ordered the control solution as I kept using him  and one solution failed to be in range last week. The machine...

URGENT set change & could BG machine be broken?

OK so I used a control solution to check meter and it read 8.2, which is within range. Then I did BG, an hour after last 5.1, and it's 8.3  So if it's right I've gone up 3 in an hour with insulin on board, even accounting for stress. Thing is it's funny it's almost same reading as...

URGENT set change & could BG machine be broken?

OK so I'm worried tonight. I've done a set change this afternoon and then had lunch as usual. I normally have to bolus about 50% extra for lunch after a set change. Then I check BG after 2 hours and again 1 hour after that. The second result should be lower and I know the set is working. So...

    PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Not able to help myself as I adopted my son but one of my close friends just had her first baby. At the end of her pregnancy she was on 150 units a day to keep stable. She just upped and upped to keep the control. Also are you changing your set more frequently? Do you think you could be getting...
