Hives all over - cannula insertion

I will try that but even if I inject I will be injecting into the rash as it's everywhere. It's even worse today which I didn't think was possible. Anti-histamine from doctor not touching it and still no idea exactly what's caused it

Hives all over - cannula insertion

Hello I have come out with hives all over my body due to an allergic reaction (not sure what yet but doctor thinks it could be peanuts or persil) and I'm a little worried about my set change tomorrow. As my body is covered with this itchy rash I will have no choice but to insert into it...

    Issues after changing infusion set

Are you using your stomach? This area always bled like that for me as well as having scar tissue so I stopped using it. Have you tried another area and still got the same issue? Also are you using too long a cannula length and therefore going too deep?

Pumping: Is it right that my diabetes is still not under control after nine years.

Hi Liz I'm sorry you are having such a rough time and no wonder you feel depressed. I have brittle diabetes and have always had challenges keeping good control. With the pump I have finally managed it but it was really tough and I think my DSN made it worse in the early years. Are you on...

    Cannula keeps bending

The mios are like the Animas insets which I use. Try another box from a different batch to check they are not faulty. Make sure you are not pressing down too hard onto your skin as this tends to make them kink. I just float it on top of my skin and also be careful you are pressing both sides...

    Animas Vibe, thoughts?

I really like the Vibe. Started on the 2020 and moved onto the Vibe. It's robust and very easy to pick up straight away for a first pump. My pump clinic offers all pumps but the Vibe is the one they strongly recommend for young children due to how robust it is and how easy for young children to...

Type 1 on pump with ME and Fibromyalgia

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. Out of interest what insulin are you on? I was diagnosed with ME and was in a similar state to you some years back. I felt so ill and was getting worse. Turned out to be my Levemir doing it all. After I came off that and went on the pump I slowly...

    First Kink.

Hope you're feeling better now? I agree with other posters that it was most likely the tape coming loose that caused a kink. A kink at insertion should have caused your pump to alarm. If the tape situation happens again you can always use a strip of Mefix tape to keep it down until you are ready...

Pump - changing sets and getting highs

So sorry to see you are having all these issues. I have always found I run high with a set change and I have to run new site at temp basal of +160% for 2 hours. It's like my body won't accept new site right away. I also leave old set in for at least 4 hours too. I had a nightmare with steel...

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

New pump Animas sent is actually several years old so have called them today, explained pump working fine since stopped using the "heated sets" and that I want to keep current pump and return latest one. Person I spoke to said it does sound like a dodgy batch of sets and they are going to call...

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

Yes and they have logged it as faulty. Have no idea what happens to these pumps but as I'm sure it isn't faulty I don't want to waste a new pump. However not sure if they can hand my latest one out to someone else as I've had it (although not opened it). Also don't fancy waiting another 60...

    Criteria

OK so I've had the pump occlude in the night about 3 times during my 6 years pumping. It didn't get to DKA because my pump alarmed to warn me and I injected right away and changed set. Your consultant sounds like a fool.

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

Another set from the new batch working perfectly with no occlusions. Animas have just delivered my new pump - do I tell them I really don't think it's the pump?

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

On the day in question it was record breaking hot. When I have undone the sets the needle cover is almost totally stuck on to the needle and they don't sound quite right when pulled back. I told Animas all of this. I always order some pink sets and some grey sets so if a batch is faulty I have a...

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

So on Friday I changed my set and used one from the new batch not left on my doorstep. It has worked perfectly so far. Today I am doing another change and again using the new batch. Will be interesting to see if this is also ok. Animas are adamant that being left on a doorstep in scorching heat...

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

Thank you all so much for the support with this. I suffer from anxiety and although I've adapted to pumping issues over my years of using it this has really shaken me up as I don;t understand why this is happening. Personally I suspect it's the box of sets left on the doorstep in the scorching...

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

Yes I do as it happens for 12 hours. Could that cause the occlusion alarm issue then? The alarms are happening either on new set use or four- 12 hours roughly afterwards

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

I am using teflon but non of the sets have been kinked - all perfectly straight. I have tried steel in the past but the sites leaked even with my Vibe on slow insulin came out and my BG was awful on them. Plus I am needle phobic and don;t want to have to change every 2 days.

Constant occlusions - really frightened and don't know what to do

Phoned Animas this morning (another 60 minute wait to get through) and they are issuing me a new pump again. So this will be pump three. He is also sending out new reservoirs too. He says brand new pumps go wrong as often as used ones which didn;t give me much confidence! If new pump and...
