    Struggling taking blood levels

Do you struggle because you don't like to test (it hurts etc) or just because you don't want to think about doing it or another reason? Have you looked at using the Abbott Freestyle Libre to help?

How do you put a set in your bottom (metal canula)?

@Applenerd81 do you use the teflon orbits and the inserter? Have you ever used the Animas inset and if so how do you find them compared to those? I have considered trying Orbits with my vibe but not sure how easy they are to insert. Mylife claim they are less painful etc.

    Rotation of sites

I do the same as Carbsrok. I am small so I have about 4-5 sites in each area, which gives me approx 36-45 days before I get to the same site again. I also take a biotin supplement and use bio oil on those areas to promote healing. Hope that helps :)

    Where to put my cannulas

Hello. If you like hips have you tried your back? I started going right round to my back on both sides and find it effective and very comfy. I also use the area between my ribs and above my waist which works very well. When I use my hips I never sleep on the side the set is in. I've trained...

Omnipod pump and what is a CGM

I'm on the Animas Vibe and considered the Omnipod but decided against it. Having used a tubed pump for 4 years the tubing never bothered me. I do use the temp basal feature on my pump a lot and this is capped on the Omnipod so wouldn't allow me enough flexibility. I also didn't like the idea of...

    Never rains but it pours

Thanks Azure. I'm going to report to Animas tomorrow and luckily I have finished the box now. I had thought about trying 4mm needles but was under the impression they were just for children and very slim people. Years ago I tried them in my legs (which are very thin and have literally no fat)...

    Never rains but it pours

Thank you all for the kind messages of support. This mornings set isn't working properly either and have just changed it again. Waiting for BG to drop but am also wondering if I have a dodgy batch as can't understand why they are all doing this. iHs I now always use the pen to correct very high...

    Never rains but it pours

Having an awfu weekend on the pump. Had a cannula that was working really well and after a tough day at work decided to have fish and chips. All seemed fine until just before bed when BG started creeping up to 12. Thought I'd misjudged slightly so put a correction through and temp basal on. Set...

    Please help!

This is untrue. Both myself and another friend on a pump have maintained our HbA1c for several years between 5 and 6 and neither of us have lost hypo awareness at all. I get excellent hypo signals. Yes some people need to run slightly higher but not everyone. I feel very healthy running lower...

Animas Vibe - pump is not primed

I never had any issues with my 2020 either. Animas quality has gone downhill in recent years, mainly due to cost cutting. The insets are nowhere near the quality and smoothness they used to be. Two friends using the vibe found their pumps failed when they went swimming as they weren't sealed...

Animas Vibe - pump is not primed

@StuartAylward have you tried using cannulas from a totally different batch? I use the Inset IIs and started having this problem with a batch of grey ones. Animas refused to believe it was the sets. I ordered 2 boxes of pink and hey presto the issue stopped.

    Pressure sensation on bolus

@noblehead that's the weird thing. It doesn't hurt at all but I can feel the bolus. It's like having air pumped into you or something. BG is spot on so leaving it for now. I had 2 site failures in this area last week so trying to avoid another one so my next site has longer to recover! @himtoo...

    Pressure sensation on bolus

Have just changed my set and it felt fine upon insertion. Have gone to bolus for lunch and it's a site where I have a feeling of pressure as I bolus. Not painful but I don't like the sensation. Sometimes these sites work fine regardless and other times they get very sore and have to be changed...

    Bad set or bad insulin?

These days it's rare for my sets to fail outright and if they do the pump alarms. However I do tend to find I have more bad sites where, like Azure, some insulin gets through and over time this decreases until I'm forced to change set. With that particular set I had already had temp basal on and...

    Bad set or bad insulin?

Thanks Azure. I suffer from anxiety so being away from home and having BG problems makes me worry. I decided to change both set and insulin and will be able to test them at dinner time. Didn't want to be up late with high BG the night before we have to get up early to fly home. I'm lucky that I...

    Bad set or bad insulin?

im on the last day of my holiday in Majorca and it's the hottest day so far. Changed set yesterday and worked fine, although not as effective as the previous one. Noticed my BG had run higher than usual overnight but not worryingly high. Got them down before breakfast but shot up again after...

    Pump at waterpark

Yes lockers would be a good idea and I could bolus every 45 minutes or so I guess. I did consider using a pen but I worry about my blood sugars getting out of control and also the pen in the heat or getting lost etc. I have to do a set change tomorrow before dinner so would like to try and keep...

    Pump at waterpark

I'm on holiday in Spain and tomorrow we will be going to a waterpark. I'm not a big swimmer and usually disconnect for max of an hour and then reconnect. What would others do at a waterpark please? We will be eating there too as lunch is included. I do have an animas vibe but two friends with...

    Animas vibe

Jess are you moving the plunger back and forth before filling to lubricate the reservoir? This is an important step as otherwise the plunger doesn't move as smoothly and might result in less insulin being bolused. Also do you prime 5 drops out before reconnecting? Is your tubing changed...
