Who has never seen a consultant?

I've only been diagnosed since Jan, & have seen GP for diagnosis & practice nurse & diatician after that. Now have no appts 'necessary' for another year!!! They say I'm ok coz of 'execellent' control (thanks to advice from you lot!!). My last HBa1C was 5.8. Btw, they 'forgot' to check my...

Hi Hana I love rummaging in charity shops, and am a regular de-clutterer on Ebay as well! My last charity shop bargain was a pair of new 'Vans' trainers for £4!! A girl can never have too many shoes - and they always fit!! I am not too good at knitting. My Mum tried to teach me when I...

Hi Tracy Welcome to the forum. As the others have said, look at the low carb thread as it might give some insight into diet, etc, especially the success stories thread... lots of us here low carb... I too hallucinate cake, also chocolate, bread & tinned tomatoes  I have no idea if it's...

    Sleep Apnoea

I've read a little about this on the web as I snore and wake up exhausted most mornings (mind you, I also have a 3 year old who wakes with the lark & expects everyone else to as well!). I usually go to bed around 10-1030 and the alarm is set for 6, though I'm usually awake just before... so I...

    Update - First 2 months...

Hello all I've been diagnosed about 10 weeks now & have really been trying to stabilise my BS & adapt to low carb diet. I went to see the dietician last Thu. After reading on here about NHS being anti LC I was all tooled up for a fight! I ended up feeling quite sorry for her though! I was never...

    Back to square one!

Hi Rich My reading didn't really go down too far until after 2 weeks into the diet. Also I have found that a lot of fruits send my sugars soaring as do tinned toms :-( Having said that I am type 2 controlled by diet only, so I have no idea about insulin etc... Hopefully someone might be...

    Confused with what nurse said

Hi Shandromeda - my DN also told me to test less often - only once a week!! It seems this is because they are trying to rely on HBA1C tests as well as save money on testing strips, but this is no good to us, is it? I was advised by the good folks on here to test, test, test and test...

mum feels ill all the time now

Miko - Though this is obviously not a good thing Miko, I'm glad you said it, as I often feel shaky, sweaty, etc when my bg is normal (i.e. between 5-7). I thought this was low to start with, but now tend to think what your doc said about the body adjusting. My Mum's the same, but is on insulin...
