    Unsupportive management.

They decide on the day, usually about 10 minutes before he leaves so it's a real rush to get everything ready. It's something they could decide in advance and I've asked them to do so for myself because of my diabetes but they've said no outright.

    Unsupportive management.

I don't make breakfast at home because I'm up really early and would wake everyone. Plus this would make it difficult if I were with another service user who walks alot, I drop quite low before lunch so if I'd eaten any earlier I would then struggle if I was with her. It'd just make it so much...

    Unsupportive management.

On the usual day I arrive about 35 minutes prior to when I need to be there to allow time for breakfast. It's only the one service user who is out first thing so I usually have plenty of time even if I am late. I have asked before for them to tell me the day before if I am with this particular...

    Unsupportive management.

Fab idea I shall definitely look into it, you would think with working in a care home for individuals with autism they would be more understanding but I will definitely look into making contact with occupational health. Sometimes I can be more flexible and I try hard not to let my diabetes...

    Unsupportive management.

Thanks @Juicyj Unfortunately it seems to be a regular thing and not just with this manager either. I feel like I'm having to repeat myself all the time. I work 12 hour shifts so can't stress enough how important it is to take regular breaks and to be allowed the time to take care of myself. I...

    Unsupportive management.

So today I arrived at work a little later than normal due to an awful night with hypos. Usually I am there in plenty of time to enable me to have breakfast should I need to be out early but didn't manage it today and it was one of the rare days I have to be out early. I work in a care home and I...

    Advice on night time hypos

This is true, though they do teach that what is right for one might not work for another with regards to what you're injecting for so like you say it's more about looking for patterns and what applies to you. Based on this I probably won't reduce tonight but I will do a 3am blood to be safe...

    Advice on night time hypos

Probably a little less activity than usual yesterday too. I'm positive I calculated correctly for dinner last night which was at 6.30pm.

    Advice on night time hypos

Everything else was done as normal, if anything I ate a little later than normal. Was 8.7 before I went to bed and I usually anticipate it'll drop about 2 during the night. With the reduction it'd literally just be going off what they said on DAFNE where if you can rule out the other factors...

    Advice on night time hypos

I've only had them two other nights within the last two weeks but it isn't everynight. With DAFNE they say to wait for a 48 hour pattern unless it's a night time hypo which they say you should address immediately. I've been struggling all day to bring them back up so I'm not sure what that's...

    Advice on night time hypos

So last night I was tossing and turning for much of the night and was absolutely exhausted when I woke for work, checked my bg using my libre and it turns out I'd been hypo much of the night. With DAFNE principles I'll be reducing my basal by 10%-20% However I currently have 34 units of Tresiba...

    Type 1 Spaghetti Bolognese

I attended the DAFNE course and was told if I'm injecting more than 12 units of insulin which is often for food such as pasta or pizza as they're high carb I should split the dose. If just carby inject half in one injection site and the other half in another. But if carby and fatty like pizza...

Should I make a doctors appointment?

Definitely make another appointment and ask that your hba1c be checked, they may have already checked it so may be able to tell you the result. If not demand it. It could be that you're prediabetic and knowing this could help you massively.

How can I reduce my glucose levels please?

Personally I'd cut the baked beans and the bread, tinned soup can also be quite high carb so make this fresh if possible. Are you snacking at all?

    Insulin timing

That's what I'm finding, 4 hours will bring me back in target. But after 2 hours not a chance :/

    Insulin timing

Does it matter how long it takes to come back in target?

    Insulin timing

From this is it then okay to spike after meals and be out of target range? I've just today got the libre and I've worried myself doing a glucose test so soon after meals. I rose from a 5.8 to 10.7 and that seems a little extreme. @Mad76 @karen8967

    Positive Vibes

Hi all :) Many of my posts relate to the lows of diabetes and the day to day challenges we all face so I'm going to try something different. Today I have been feeling hugely positive for the first time in a very long time. My bg levels seem to have found a happy medium over the last couple of...
