    Ridiculously high :(

I will have 15g fast acting and retest 15 minutes later. If I'm no longer hypo I will then follow this up with 10g slow release glucose and as a rule of thumb will not correct at the first meal after a hypo.

    Come on T1s!

@Shannon27 This is me all over! I can go to work and take meals with me and I'll have already figured out my carb portions but then I get home and actually feast! DAFNE is great in that it teaches you how to spot patterns and adjust your insulin accordingly. I feel so much more confident...

    Recommendations for cream for feet

@GeordieMark88 I have used both the flexitol and CCS and both have worked great for me. Both have urea as an active ingredient. They can be pricey but definitely worth it in the long run and once you get into a good routine and get on top of the issue you may not need to apply it as often.

    Come on T1s!

I constantly struggle with motivation , some days I don't test and will skip insulin doses. My hba1c levels reflect this. I am in a similar position to yourself and would like to have children in the near future, many people have criticised that this should be all the motivation I need but...

    Question about DAFNE course

From experience when I attended the course we were done by 14.30 most days. Obviously this will depend on a few factors so could be different for yourself. I would definitely recommend the course though, I hope you manage to find a solution.

    What a three weeks!

Welcome to the community! I'd definitely recommend the DAFNE course, ask your GP or consultant if you can be referred, extremely useful for carb counting and getting to grips with diabetes. I've just attended after being diagnosed 7 years ago and can't for the life of me fathom why they don't...

    Reducing morning Help

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anybody has any tips or suggestions on how to reduce before breakfast BG. I usually wake somewhere between 6mmol-9mmol but my consultant would like to see lower numbers with a target of 5mmol-6mmol. He has suggested increasing my basal slightly (Tresiba) but I...

    Hba1c

I try to go carb free when I can and particularly try to avoid pasta unless I fancy a treat because I find that I spike with pasta and it can take so long for my levels to reduce. At first because my meals were so carb based I set myself a goal of having at least two carb free lunches a week or...

Things everyone thinks are gross unless you’re T1D...

ALL OF THIS. Even food off the floor, if I'm at work and I've bolused for it then I'm eating it.

    Breakfast ideas

Yogurt and fruit are also great breakfast options though I know many people don't find them very filling for the first meal of the day.

    Breakfast ideas

Omelettes are a great breakfast idea, low carb if you put the right things in there. Alternatively if you need an on the go option you can make egg muffins using the same ingredients as you would for omelettes. You can batch cook these and keep them in the fridge to eat hot or cold for convenience.

Type 1 Type 1 low carb and weight loss

I can't she'd much light on this however I can recommend slimming world as a great way to lose weight but also achieve some amazing blood glucose results. I reduced to 1 unit to 10 grams and my basal from 28U to 14U whilst following their plan.

Type 1 Can High Blood sugars effect pregnancy tests??

I'm not sure if high blood glucose levels have an influence on home pregnancy tests however high blood glucose can definitely have an impact on your menstrual cycle. For example, before I was diagnosed I hadn't had a period for many months, following on from this after only a few days in...

Managed to book onto DAFNE in December, really looking forward to it and hoping I take something good from it.

    Hba1c

Results are in, I've literally just left the doctors office with a hba1c result of 58 down from 103 April 2019. I actually cried, I'm so happy. I know I still have a way to go but I am shocked, I really wasn't expecting that. Thankyou to everyone for support/help/advice etc. Hope everyone is well!

    Struggling

I've had similar struggles myself, some quite recently, I was always told not to worry if I wasn't eating much but to always ensure I gave myself insulin for what little I did eat and to monitor for hypos regularly. I agree with with @Juicyj a course like DAFNE would be beneficial, after years...

    My latest HbA1c results...

Have my next hba1c bloods wednesday, results Friday. Quite frankly dreading it but any improvement on 103 would be great. Building a good relationship with my most recent nurse, she's very light hearted and not judgemental or critical in the slightest. She even joked that it'd just be nice to...
