    Diarrhea

Hi @Mark Rawlinson Are you on slow-release Metformin? If not, this might be the problem. Many Type2 Forum members have found slow-release solves this problem. Good luck.

    Injection sites query

I used to use one side of the stomach in the morning and exactly the opposite in the evening. I would continue by gradually aiming further across, then dropping down. But this does rely on memory somewhat!

    Newly diagnosed and confused

Hello @Mlish67 I think the hospital will watch for trends before they decide the best dose for you. Obviously we are all different in metabolism and therefore it is hard to truly mimic a human pancreas. It would be unlikely for a hospital team to expect you to adjust doses this early on. I have...

Fed up of all thing’s diabetic

Hi @abigailsheree I am sorry to hear of your plight but fully understand. I think the most important thing to realise that diabetes is not your fault. Even mismanagement, if any, is not your fault. You are dealing with a condition which has no holiday. Obviously I have no idea what sort of blood...

    Stage 1 retinopathy into remission?

I comletely agree with @jaywak . I had laser treatment between 1979 and 1983. Maintaining tight control meant that no further treatment has happened since. I am retired and have very good visual acuity.

Has anyone had gout?.and is it related to my type diabetes?

I only had gout once I had reached Stage 4 CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) directly caused by Type 1 diabetes, so they were related in my case. But there can be other causes of kidney disease. This is a very informative link...

Has anyone had gout?.and is it related to my type diabetes?

Although I was kept informed about deteriorating function for over 30 years, I was not aware of any symptoms until I started getting gout and cellulitis. I also appeared jaundiced towards the end. Do you attend a clinic on a regular basis? As your gout should be in your notes, I would guess your...

Has anyone had gout?.and is it related to my type diabetes?

Sorry @Diawara I somehow missed this thread. As my kidney function deteriorated to very bad levels I had many attacks of gout, including chin, sternum, elbow, knee, arches and toes. With a replacement kidney it went away. I just wondered how your kidney function is? For me it was like a red hot...

Hi @Jen j and welcome to the forum. Type 1's live till their about 80?

If my life is anything to go by, I have been my own boss since 2020 and "retired" last year. I am crazily busy, but most of what I do is enjoyable. "Work" is often a set frame in our minds which doesn't help when thinking about the future.

Type 1's live till their about 80?

In my lifetime life expectancy has increased by about 20 years. By the time you reach 80, with the rapid progress of medicine, you could still be very fit. Who knows?
