    STILL WAITING

Maybe it's the "or two" that would be a problem! :-)

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

That pork pie looks delicious. I loved pork pies from my days in the UK many years ago! However, meat pies are not really a thing here in North America like in the UK, Australia and South Africa. We do have chicken pot pie, and empanadas, but it is not really the same. The other day, I saw some...

Choice between Libre 1 and Libre 2

As of yesterday, the medical plan (OHIP - similar to the NHS in the UK) here in the Canadian province of Ontario has started covering Libre 2 for insulin dependent diabetics. Any insights from those who used both Libre 1 and Libre 2: Should I switch to Libre 2, or stay with Libre 1? Either does...

Type 2 Just gone on insulin and my sugars are worse than ever

Although carb intake and insulin are the two main items influencing blood sugar levels, there are about 40 other items that can impact blood sugar levels, such as fat intake, stress, etc. Blood glucose levels are not a linear process, it is a complex dynamic process

Type 2 Just gone on insulin and my sugars are worse than ever

Two questions: 1. What kind of insulin are you taking? Is it fast acting (eg Novorapid) or basal insulin (eg. Tresiba/Levemir) 2. Does your eating regimen have a significant carb content. These factors might explain why your blood sugar levels are not responding as you would like. Also, no...

Very low readings on Freestyle Libre

@tim.ejb Hi Tim, I am on my 62nd sensor now, and only have had one with a similar experience than yours. When I called Abbott here in Canada, they replaced without any real hassle. They asked me to return the faulty sensor, but then they did not include a return envelope.

    Starting Metformin tomorrow!

I have been taking Metformin for more than 13 years. No side-effects at all. Also, I am not sure it does anything for me. I only take it, because my endocrinologist tells me it is a wonder drug and it is good for me?????

    Too much insulin

A few years back, I accidentally gave me a Novorapid instead of a Levemir injection just before I was going to bed at around 10PM. At the time, I was normally injecting 10u Novorapid befor meals, 40u Levemir before bedtime. Fortunately, I realized that I injected the wrong insulin as I was...

Interesting article on the history of diabetes

Apparently Nov 14th is world diabetes day. I just saw this article on the history of diabetes in a Canadian publication. https://www.healthing.ca/diseases-and-conditions/diabetes/the-history-of-diabetes-november-14-marks-100-years-of-insulin/

    Fruit info

Yes, fruit is generally good for one. However, the metabolic system of diabetics is compromised in its ability to deal with carbohydrates (either through no insulin production or insulin resistance), so fruit may present a challenge. The best way to find out is to test the response of one's...

    Adding metformin to insulin?

I use 40 units of Tresiba daily, but my need for Novorapid fluctuates wildly from day to day. However, in my case, it is the result of me sinning by eating some carb rich food. When I abstain from eating carb rich foods, it would seem that my need for Novorapid is very little. I have been a good...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Here in North America, we refer to rocket as arugula. No idea what lamb's lettuce would be???? What are those two leafy salads in Dutch?

    Type 2 Carbs

If you have a glucose meter (finger or Libre) you need to experiment with different foods and determine what impact they have on your blood sugar. For instance, yesterday I had some lentil soup/stew, and my blood sugar level was completely unresponsive the entire day. This also seems to be the...

    Nightime lows

Maybe not a solution, but have you tried some carbs before going to bed????

I am waiting for differant diabetes med.

At what time do you take the dapagaflozin? I use Jardiance, but my endocrinologist advised me to take it first thing in the morning so as to avoid the urination problem at nighttime. Now, being an older male with some prostate issues, it really did not help.

    Abbott and sensor problem

I don't live in Europe, but in North America. I have never had a problem here reaching Abbott and them replacing a faulty sensor.

    What am I doing wrong

Well, 8.5 to 11.5 is not such a huge spike. Also, going down to 7.1 this morning is a definite step forward! Take it as a win!

    What am I doing wrong

Although there are some carb rich food, it is not really a lot of carbs. What was your BG reading in the morning before you started to eat anything. That may explain a lot.
