    Keto supper suggestions

During the warmer months of the year, a salad made with low carb vegetables and a small amount of protein, and during the colder months of the year, a soup made with similar ingredients.

    Disappointed

Although carb intake and insulin usage are the two main factors impacting blood sugar levels, there are many other factors that can influence one's blood sugar levels. It is not a one to one relationship, but rather a dynamic interaction of many factors.

Higher glucose readings after 4 hrs of taking novorapid

My guesses are: Firstly, it would seem that the 9 units of Novorapid is not sufficient for an intake of 86 g of carbs. You will need to experiment with higher doses of Novorapid, but be careful not to send yourself into a hypo - it is very easy to overdose. Secondly, I would guess that the...

Changed Freestyle sensor, readings all much higher

A few weeks back, a new sensor gave me a reading of 3.1, whereas my finger gave me a reading 9.8. Abbott replaced the sensor without any real hassle. I am on my 61st sensor now, and that was the first sensor that clearly gave me an erroneous reading.

    Instant Mash

It is not a perfect substitute, but I use daikon as a substitute for potatoes in stews and soups.

    sitting at 24.5

The more critical question is: do you know why your blood sugar is at 24.5?

    Surgery and anaesthetic

Be very circumspect of the carbs that you will be eating the next few days and measure your blood sugar regularly. You don't say how well your blood sugar is controlled normally. The rationale for the doctor's dictum is that they don't want or need to deal with potential hypos or hipers while...

    Unopened & unused insulin

I faced a similar situation when I switched from levimir to tresiba. Although you may have treated the insulin with care (refrigerated as required), there is no way the pharmacy can verify it. Nobody is going to be happy receiving insulin that potentially may have been compromised.

    Splenda

I have not put sugar in my tea or coffee since 1969. My mother had diabetes. Now, coffee or tea with sugar taste yeuch! Diet drinks with artificial sugar leave an aftertaste in mouth for sometimes up to 24 hours, meaning that I do not drink it. Normal soda/pop with sugar is also avoided like...

On Chemo, is this the problem?

I can't say that I have never cheated with chips, but normally I substitute it with what I call my traffic light salad consisting of tomato, yellow peppers and english or mini cucumber with a low carb dressing. After I ate chips, my blood sugar is normally orbiting the stratosphere with either...

    What is your lipid panel?

On Sep 7, 2021 TC 2.94 Cho/HDL 3.9 HDL 0.76 LDL 1.62 Tri 1.23 Non HDL 2.18 My numbers have considerably improved since I have been eating lower carb. I also take 1 crestor per day. When I asked my endocrinologist what can I do to improve my HDL. She responded - nothing except becoming a woman...

8 years of insulin but not diabetic!!! Wrong diagnosis

Insulin is a life saver, but it can also be very dangerous, as it is so very easy to overdose. One should therefore always be very aware of the impact of insulin on one's body.

Reactive Hypoglycemia How often you check your blood glucose level

According to my libre reader, I check on average 26 times a day - between 30 and 60 minutes during daytime when I am awake, and once when I wake up during nighttime. When I experience a hypo, it might be between 15/20 minutes until I get back in safe territory. For me,it has become like when I...

Type 1 How much long-acting insulin do you take?

I take 40u of Tresiba every morning and varying amounts of Novorapid at mealtimes (depending upon what carbs I might be eationg and what my bood sugar might be at the time).

    when do you decide?

An a1c of 6.6 to 6.8 is not really a worsening! I would consider that well within the realm of a measurement error.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It all depends on what works for you or does not work for you. For instance, for me legumes barely if at all move my blood glucose numbers, whereas for oats I have to take insulin to neutralize the carbs in it. Sometimes it is allconfusing.

Time difference Europe- America and insulin

Originally, I took Tresiba before bedtime, but about 6 months ago I switched to before breakfast. Nothing happened. My Tresiba dosage is 40 units per day.

What dictates the magnitude of your A1c?

My doctors (family doctor/endocrinologist/nephrologist/hematologist) every time ask for both a snapshot, as well as an a1c reading when I do bloodwork before an appointment. I am not sure why they ask for the snapshot, because I can easily manipulate it such as giving me an insulin shot, and...
