The BBC. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Even the fact they say that levels can be returned to normal with a low cal diet is misleading. Its low carb & low cal & levels typically only stay returned to normal if you stay low carb don't they? If someone reading that was resistant to the fact they might need to cut carbs long term they...

How to make a good near zero carb coffee?

I lived with the son of a Monsanto employee at Uni & was privy to some info on Aspartamine which made me vow never to touch sweeteners in any form.

How to make a good near zero carb coffee?

This is common - alot of doctors don't explain that Carbs turn to sugar as they metabolise. They tell us we just need to avoid sugar. So, if you cut out sugar, but don't keep an eye on carb intake then you can end up with poor blood glucose control anyway. The amount of carbs a T2 diabetic...

How to make a good near zero carb coffee?

I think you'll find you can tolerate drip coffee without the sweetener, which i'm not a fan off tbh. Drip coffee tends to be less bitter anyway. Good luck with it all!

Type 2 Is avocado beneficial to eat?

Ďoes anyone have any good receipes that I can use with Avo? I legit hate the slimy texture but I know its good for me so really want to try to eat more! Similarly - kale - if anyone has any good ways to make that taste less like unwashed cabbage that would be most appreciated!

How to make a good near zero carb coffee?

Is access to coffee as limited in Singapore as it is in Malaysia? I remember 3in1 being prevalent there & imo it was not tasty! Your best bet would be to test local brands of instant coffee out (with no sugar or creamer) until you find one that is palatable. It might require some extra effort...

    Incompetent medical professionals

As a newly diagnosed T2 diabetic I have to say these continual sub par experiences with medical professionals are really worrying. What I really don't get it why so much of the medical profession is so ignorant? Diabetes is a growing issue, with severe health implications if not treated...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

So did a wee little unintentional test this weekend. Had a wedding on sunday so I had very little say over food. The meal was basically a disaster for a low carber. Deep fried rissoto balls to start, chicken with sweet potato mash, followed by Eton mess. We were a last minute addition to the...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

Its a bit of a misunderstanding of the BSD that its just for 8 weeks -( though not helped by the book being called the 8 week BSD diet [emoji16]). If you still have weight to lose after 8 weeks then the recommendation is to do the 5:2 version. Still low carb, but no calorie counting except 2...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

Thanks for the Thailand info.Very useful. Hopefully I'll be off the Metformin by then & just having annual blood tests. I don't intend to test my BG daily once I've got ir all under control so i can probably take enough strips etc to test twice a week for a year. We intend to come back once a...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

Had an impromptu appointment with the GP yesterday due to a girlie problem. She was so excited by the weight loss she wanted to retest my blood sugars there & then but quickly realised I needed another month for a realistic result. She was very pleased with my tracking of my BG at home (ranging...

    Educating family & friends

Its fab that your husband is so supportive. I think its key to success having people around you.. I am very grateful my husband is so supportive as well - he eats what I eat - including reducing his portions. I'm sire he sneaks stuff when i'm not around but he never talks about it & he's been...

    Educating family & friends

Thank you all! I glad I am not alone. Its a bit complicated to tell her to be quiet. My FIL passed away a few months ago (not from diabeties) which has meant we have ALOT more interaction with my MIL. She comes to stay with us for weeks & often I take her to the supermarket to give my hubs a...

    Educating family & friends

So having been recently diagnosed as T2 diabetic & avoiding carbs like the plague I am seriously frustrated with friends & family - or more specifically my MIL She's a normally kind & lovely woman who seems to have turned into the evil devil on my shoulder. Going to the supermarket with her is...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

Ok thank you. Sounds like I'm on the right lines. I typically have full fat greek yogurt, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds & flaxseeds most mornings. I often add 50g of blackberries or raspberries but perhaps i should knock them on the head. Thats the only fruit I eat now, except tomatoes, which i...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

The snake made me consider coming home! So, re eating to the meter. My morning BG test prior to eating was 7.3 which I guess would put me in the diabetic range. That isn't a surprise & as I understand it sort of normal for diabetics. It should go down a bit during the day This seems to...

Newly diagnosed & a bit confused

Urgh. I spent 8 months in SE asia & I managed to avoid all the deep fried insects. Though i did get 'treated' to bbq'ed snake on new years eve in Cambodia. It was distinctly underwhelming [emoji16] Re the low cal part of the diet - i really think its not for everyone. I went in to it so...
