Overnight Low glucose after gym - any tips?

I am starting to experiment myself with adjusting for exercise, however if you do make changes I have been told to not make any adjustment more than 10%. this allows a degree of flexibility and adjustment.

    Glucoman areo good or bad?

Follow up comment from my last post.. I have had to change over to the Freestyle Neo, as it was difficult to get hold of the ketone testing strips. I had an order for 10 on backorder for just over two months before my DSN swapped me over. i think it has something to do with it being a new...

    Hypos caused by alcohol

Had my first drink since diagnosis this weekend and had my old favourite disaranno and Diet Coke. I had it with lunch so I could see how it affected me throughout the day. My BG did not really move come the post meal test, and I felt gone throughout the day. I now feel more confident, but will...

    Honeymooning

Was having similar symptoms myself and after basal testing I have reduced my levemir from 8 to 6, now coupled with my 1:10 carb ratio seems to be hitting the mark with the odd exception. The plan is to give it a week and then try another round of basal testing as it takes a while for the new...

Not had my insulin for nearly a month.

As a type 1 your BG is likely to raise to unacceptable levels, and I can not stress how dangerous this will be. If left unchecked you will develop DKA will can either be long term health damaging, or worse case scenario...death! You will begin to feel thirsty, tired, lethargic and frequent...

    Type1. high blood sugar

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with control, however do not beat yourself up as there will always be bumps along the road. As others have said I would suggest speaking to either your GP or DSN as they can help identify possible causes, and perhaps there is an underlying issue that...

Type 1 300km bike ride from Paris to Dijon

Well done on your first outing. Would you mind giving a break down of events? (When testing, carb intake etc) Whilst reading your post I was curious as to why your levels rose from 5 before bed to 10. I am guessing the lack of sleep and excitement, but have you considered fasting tests? The aim...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

9.7 this morning......Not happy but what can I do about it besides say "Naughty!" I know this is down to a hypo after yesterdays tea, and I may have over treated it.

    T1D new meter

Highly recommend glucoman areo 2k or the freestyle optium neo due to small size

Type 1: Glucose level before bed

I was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago and now confident enough to start basal testing to ensure my levels as best as they can be, however I use Novopens and am relatively limited to the increments I can make. Personally I was thinking 6 is a good starting point, any lower before bed and I will...

Type 1: Glucose level before bed

Just curious if anybody has been told that their glucose levels must be above a certain limit before going to bed? Somebody mentioned in passing that he ideally wants 8.0 before going to bed, but this seems quite high in my opinion. If he is lower than that, then he eats some toast before going...

    Glucoman areo good or bad?

Got the areo 2k myself and think it is great. Does ketones as well as a bonus. Strips come in pots rather than individually wrapped in foil. Small meter so easy to carry

    Usual insulin intake

Hi @smc4761 I to take more Levemir in the evening. I was experiencing lows throughout the day and was advised to reduce morning, and increase evening to compensate the highs in the morning

    Exercise

I have been advised by DSN that if I am planning exercise then I should start by reducing my rapid by 25%. If I continue to dip before next meal I shoul also reduce next meal by 25% to avoid hypos. Obviously this is a rough starting point but may be useful for you
