    Eating out

Never ever inject without knowing exactly what you're going to eat first (Lesson learnt on band trip to France. French folk don't eat as many carbs for dinner - staying with a French family severely limits your ability to go sugar-hunting. Result: being woken by (very competent) French ambulance...

    Coventry - Insulin Pump

I'm in Rugby at the St. Cross hospital for diabetic care. They're keen on pumps there (although I got my pump in Stafford). You are quite at liberty to change the hospital for your care to anywhere that'll give you a pump. You need to prove a few things though before they'll risk giving you one...

    Pump

Perhaps the more selfless amongst us should consider taking the necessary hardship of staying a sunny clime, drinking sugary cocktails by the pool regularly to ensure we don't get too dependent on tech?

    Pump

I use a pump. I use CGM. I've used MDI since the Novo Pen came out in 1985 (lovely little 1.5ml thing, I've still got one after finding it trapped down the back of a chair!). They're intensive and require a fair amount of thought. As an experiment, I'm going to abandon the latest "high-tech"...

You're very right DunePlodder. It's TI's SimpliciTI protocol for their 2.4GHz CC2511 IC.

    Pump

That said, if I go on a sunny holiday, I'll take my pump off and go back to MDI.

    Diaries

I don't think I've ever done the diary thing. I've tried a few times, but I must admit, I'm too disorganised for it. However, I happily test, I have taken to the immense (and expensive) luxury of CGM.

    Pump

Pumps are great if you don't mind tinkering ALOT more. They won't control things on their own, they won't adapt, they don't look pretty and they have their own safety issues. BUT if you're fed up with stabbing yourself, if you don't mind MANY more correction doses and quite a few more blood...

    New batch of Humalog

No. The pharmaceutical companies are obliged to take very great care what they supply is in good condition. This is why it's so expensive. It should be the best quality. Potentially, taking the matter up with the manufacturer, as this is a matter of quality control in their supply chain. I...

    New batch of Humalog

It's important to find out what and how it happened. Let us know if you find anything out, moray lass?

Is there a faster acting insulin than novo rapid?

Novo and a couple of other companies are developing "ultra-rapid" human analogs. Novo is the closest to release and is hoped for then end of this year. I'm looking forward to this a great deal, but I do have some concerns about some of the techniques they're using to do this, and whether they...

I'm confused about what to do when I'm on the beer, Inject ? don't inject?

Your heart knows you need more data, Tim.

Relentless scientific research, sir. I doff my hat in your direction.

I think the wireless protocol is Bluetooth, in which case it's definitely 2-way ("duplex") and probably power saving, as I was alluding to. It'll be interesting to see how folk get on with xDrips. My prediction is shortened transmitter life, although I'll be very pleased to be completely wrong...

    xDrip Bgs on my phone

DunePlodder, all the protocols are 2-way transmit and receive, even when Decom call it a transmitter or a receiver. The transmitter though has a very limited power supply that can't be replaced, so I'm thinking that ANYTHING we can do to reduce the amount of power it uses would help it's life...

    Insane urge to stockpile!!

I usually stockpile 6 weeks worth of stuff. It allows me to be flexible in when I replenish, and nipping off for a trip somewhere for a few weeks isn't a problem.

    Feeling Lost & Hopeless

Tukella, the main thing is to do something. You've already done that, well done. You've already spotted a problem and you're doing things about it. That's really good. Some folk don't even get that far. Testing and tinkering with insulin, talking to your DSN (they've got a phone number ;-))...

It'll be the same distance as with the Dexcom receiver. I also suspect that there's some kind of power management on the Dexcom transmitter power, which will affect its battery life. Slightly off-topic, but does anyone have experience of keeping the Dexcom receiver in a handbag or something 2-3...
