    Can I vent !

Just came back from doctors with new hba1c result taken Jan 12th. Diagnosed early September with hba1c of 95 now it's down to 49. A good drop but I was hoping for more. Why the need to vent . Told now that my blood sugars were stable thanks to doctors medication ( obviously the drop is all to...

What is your definition of what is a good level?

Hi Smallbrit I am no expert but if you search the threads here for codefree readings there is some discussion about this. Some reckon it can be up to 1 mmol higher than other meters but caution that all meters have a tolerence level of 15 percent either way so no reading is that accurate. As...

What is your definition of what is a good level?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess I was interested in how tight your control should be to be considered " normal" as regards sugar levels. Like many others, i'm thinking, friends and family have been interested to test their levels since I got the meter. Individuals who are not diabetic...

What is your definition of what is a good level?

Hi All, I have been plodding away at the low carb diet now for several months and have seen a drop in average levels and also a good dampening of the dawn phenomena that was causing me such issues. Thank you so much to all on here who have enabled me to take this positive action with my...

    Yoghurts

Coconut milk yoghurt in Tesco's 4g per 100 of carbs I believe but pricey at £3.50 per medium sized tub. Tends to solidify if not eaten within a couple of days.

Liver Dump fights back with false hypo?

Thanks Brunneria I will certainly take your advice about the nut bar and or jelly beans. I had milk in eggs and tea so should have been a few carbs floating around. I am however seeing much lower BG levels recently and think maybe my body used to the high levels of before is protesting. Well it...

Liver Dump fights back with false hypo?

Thanks Ringa the previous nights meal was salmon brod beans and cauliflower with a homemade low carb cheesecake using almond flower and sweeteners . The cheesecake was a new tryout maybe higher carb than I thought. I made the eggs with margarine rather than the usual butter as I'd used it up in...

Liver Dump fights back with false hypo?

Hi , so it really looked like I had it beat the last few days but it came back with a vengeance today. Day started with a rather high fasting reading of 7.2 this morning. I wasn't overly concerned and had my breakfast of two scrambled eggs then set of to station for morning commute walk is about...

Have I cracked the morning dump ( liver )?

Thanks Rider, pleased to hear about your success as well. Interesting about the tea as I was considering giving up the milk in it to get some movement on BG in the morning. I am a copious tea drinker ( Irish heritage) and as stated previously in another thread have been gutted by my total...

Have I cracked the morning dump ( liver )?

Hi CherryAA I have not weighed myself on purpose as I did not want to be discouraged. I have relied on clothes measurements to estimate. I would estimate that I am between 12 and 12 and a half stone. I recently was able to fit in to my 16 year old Levi 501s 32 inch waist but would not yet where...

Have I cracked the morning dump ( liver )?

Have I cracked the morning dump? ( liver dump) Wrote not so long ago on here about an unstoppable morning rise in BG no matter what I did. Possibly its resolved. Unfortunately I was totally unscientific and did several new things at once. Dropped statins was getting bad muscle pains in legs and...

Foods with hidden sugar and carbs? What caught you out?

Had a bit of a spike last night.Couldn't figure out why until this morning. As part of evening meal and snack munched my way through about 500g of raw cabbage ( greedy I know and quite windy) . Nice and healthy I thought , only it was red cabbage which I now discover has about 3.5 g of sugar per...

BG rising through the morning whatever I do?

I'm going to try the same LittleGreyCat. I have a feeling that although I have been good at the low carbing my portion sizes have been creeping up. So a week of rigour and we'll see what happens! Will also try to up the exercise a bit. This mornings GP was high 7.9 but interestingly it was still...
