    Diagnosed and feeling low

Before diagnosis I was getting up several times each night. I’m told it’s caused by your kidneys reducing your sugar by making you wee it out. Years ago doctors used to diagnose diabetes by tasting wee for sugar. I’ve found that since I’ve had D my body thermostat is rubbish, I’m forever too...

    Diagnosed and feeling low

That’s very safe advice but if you drop the insulin and first moderate carbs then slowly reduce them what are the risks? If you test too then if your BG rises sharply into the teens then go back to following the Docs regime and take the insulin. If you find out you need the insulin then at least...

    Type 2 Stopping Insulin Injections?

And the Doctor conversation, I doubt he’ll accept you’ve done well, mainly because you ignored his worse than useless treatment plan.

    Type 2 Stopping Insulin Injections?

This is a great story but sadly, so typical. I don’t know of any other walk of life that is so rubbish and often totally uninformed and unprofessional as GPs when it comes to diabetes.

    Diagnosed and feeling low

I’d suggest reading the thread ‘Rising Blood Glucose Readings’ started by @Frank68 it shows without doubt that ignoring medical advice was the right thing to do for him. I was diagnosed as T1 by my doctor and T2 by the DN so whatever they suggested was a guess and you’ve been told your Doc is...

    Rising blood glucose readings

I forgot to mention, yes exercise seems to work well. I find that hard exercise that really pushes you for a long period of time, like running, can raise your levels, but gentle steady exercise like walking or very short bursts like weights pushes your BG down.

    Rising blood glucose readings

Those results aren’t bad. With a base figure of 4.5 and a few peaks which many people (me included) get even when your meal is low carb, you’ll have that Hba1c down in the low 40s or lower. If you’re keen to get an idea of your likely Hba1c the free MySugr app is surprisingly accurate. BTW how...

    Type 2 Stopping Insulin Injections?

Big well done to you Mr Evans. A victory of logic and common sense over our rule following habit of following ‘professionals’ for no other reason than their having some qualification. Your results are what you I and others expected coupled with your determination!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

8.6 this morning, not too bad for me x Have a lovely day Peeps

    Rising blood glucose readings

Hi Frank, welcome to the forum. The good news is that your numbers have crept up slowly so the rise has been spotted early so you’re unlikely to have done much/any damage to yourself. Have you being testing before eating and again two hours after to see the effect of different foods. I’m 6 foot...

    New Type 1 Diabetic

What a tale, so scary! At least you’re in the right place here. I’m not T1 so won’t advise but it’s all very manageable so good luck and I’m sure it’ll all seem so much easier and clearer in a week or two.

    Highest/lowest Reading

Friday - a morning peak of 11.5 though in the 9s most of the morning, thought I only had bacon and egg to eat. And a best of 6.8 Saturday - totally different, a morning peak of 9.5 and currently down at 5.1 at 5.45pm :-)

    Regular moderate exercise log

2.4k steps yesterday, probably my lowest ever! @DJC3 thanks, and the cold is pretty much out of me. I resisted the surprisingly strong lure of the Parkrun this morning and went for a 6 mile walk (17,000 steps) instead and my BS which according to my libre has only ventured below 7.5 for 2% of...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Mmm just been through 60 posts since I was last on this thread and I have the dubious distinction of being the rubbishiest at controlling my BS today

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Well, just over a day away from this thread and there’s 140 posts to read through! Most interesting, many amusing, @alf_Josiah cracked me up with ‘On a sad note, Mrs J has staggered down stairs to issue unlistened to instructions’ it conjured up a great mental picture @Debandez twerking over a...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning my lovelies, with or without colds! 9.4 at 07.45 I’ll probably live but look forward to being disappointed by a 6.5
