    Hospitalrefused diabetic meds

This disgusts me. I have normal fasting bs of less than 5.5 - sometimes even in the late 4's and it is because of my low GI/ low cab diet + exercise. (I am one of those lucky ones who the GP's have forgotten about and I still get strips on prescription!!) When I go abroad where my children live...

If I want something sweet I have a bite ofa Nature's Plus Energy Bar which are "diabetic friendly" low GI. I first tried them from my local health food shop but they are expensive at £2.60 a bar. I now buy them in bulk - 12 in a box from Monster Supplements at about £1.50 a bar. have tried most...

    Almond Flour

If it is any use to you when I want to coat things for frying I use high protein gram flour rather than ordinary flour or breadcrumbs. That's the flour that they make onion bhajis with. Wouldn't use it in a cake though as it does have a slight taste

    Foot Cream

I also use Flexitol but the Flexitol Natural which smells divine and is found in a green pack in Boots. Unfortunately it is expensive but it works the best on me. It is the only one that keeos my feet moistuised all night . I wake frequently and nearly always have to moisturise my feet again as...

    Problem with Diabetic ulcer healing

As a homeopath I feel obliged to mention that there are homeopathic remedies that deal very successfully with diabetic ulcers . I suggest that you see a classical homeopath for a full consultation to find which remedy would be best for you.

    Airline Meals

They have plastic tubs and lids so you just choose what you want. Needless to say stay away from the rice and pasta salads and pile on the protein and leaves. Some of the time they don't have plastic forks so best to take your own.

    Airline Meals

If you are in Dubai airport long enough there is a Tapas bar I have recently found upstairs which has decent food!! At M/chester airport - there are 2 salad bars you can get stuff from your journey from - one downstairs and 1 upstairs.

Diabetes Type 2 taking Cinnamon powder

I also routinely mix a good spoonful with natural yoghurt and out on my home made muesli and soya meal from Holland and Barrats as it is the onky one I can find which is no GM beans and the ingrdients are soya beans and water and nothing else!!

    Airline Meals

I frequently fly a 5 hour and a 13 hour flight. I order a kosher meal and eat only the protein. Kosher meals tend to less likely to have pasta meals and tend to have a piece of fish/meat/chicken. I carry oatcakes with me. On the 13 hour flight I ask for fruit/cheese/nuts "because I am diabetic"...

    July NICE Guidelines

Absolutely agree. I hate all sweetners except Xylitol which is the only one I use in hot cocoa and the occasional oat bran muffins/pancakes from the Dukan diet recipe that I make. I tried the new Trivia which is meant to be natural stevia but I wasn't convinced how natiral it was and I didn't...

    July NICE Guidelines

Yes I have found the Irish Yoghurts - the Activa diet are OK for us as well - no sugar. In Israel I saw loads of fruit diet yoghurts and all with sweeteners - no sugar. Low fat mayonnaise = high sugar !!

    July NICE Guidelines

I can not believe that the medical fraternity has still not got it into their heads (July 2012 NICE Guidelines http://www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/live/1 ... /59951.pdf ) that the best diet for a Type 2 diabetics/prediabetic is a Low Carb/ Low GI diet. They still seem to think that low fat is the...

    Problem with Diabetic ulcer healing

I also agree with Manuka honey - get the 20+ one. Other suggestions from me would be homeopathic Calendula cream and also Calendula pillules to take 3 x aday. Calendula is brilliant for healing. In the past I have also tried Propolis tincture. It seems to make a barrier so wounds can heal...

Codefree not liking my new low levels!

You lot going on about codefree - whatever they are- made me smile as I find the Freestyle lite which I get on prescription so unreliable batch by batch that I always now test the old batch and the new batch using the same blob of blood when I am about to change over. For instance yesterday it...
