    ‘Stop Eating After 7pm’ Challenge

Finished at 6:20 last night. Apart from coffee and a bit of cheese at lunch time, dinner was my first proper meal of the day. I was very hungry and as a result I definitely over ate, so won’t be doing that again. I’m carrying on with this challenge as it suits me and it’s stopping my mindless...

    Carbs and Fats

I can’t eat carbs in any quantity without having some reaction, in fact I’d be better not having any and bec of that I'm eating carnivore most of the time. I do eat natural fat (found on meat) and cook with butter and good old fashioned lard and this seems to suit me. As has been said many many...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Snap @Welshman1952 I had a 6.3 this morning too. Good luck with the exhibition, sounds exciting. Will the exhibition have a website so we can see the artwork? The days are getting longer and that lifts my spirits. Have a terrific Thursday everyone

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I didn’t know if the almond flour would make it sweet. I have got coconut flour so maybe I could try that. Also wondered if a bit of cream or butter would thicken it slightly, I know chefs use butter sometimes. I did simmer with the lid off for 20 mins but was too hungry to wait any longer...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I made a ragu and had it with roast cauliflower this evening. Trouble is it was a bit watery and I obviously can’t thicken it with flour like I used to. I don’t want to use xantham gum as it always turns a bit jelly-fied. Any suggestions please?

Almond milk - always check the label!

Getting a sainsburys delivery today and they’ve emailed me to say they’ve substituted the Alpro almond milk for Sainsburys almond milk. A quick look on their website to check the ingredients before I accept the substitution and it has maltodextrin in it! So that’ll be rejected.

    Type 2 Meal suggestions

Like @Margarettt I hardly bother with sides anymore and stick with the protein (meat, cheese, eggs, sometime fish) If I’m having curry it usually goes over roasted cauliflower florets. I do sometimes have celeriac chips too.

    Discrimination

Does the company she works for have an HR/Personnel dept? She could have a chat with them if they do.

    Medication question

I’m on Forxiga and keto diet. It has helped bring my BG numbers down from in the mid teens to 5s and 6s. The week of my birthday (and on holiday) I ate birthday cake and had afternoon tea and got thrush. Now I don’t have any side effects with very low carb and I drink plenty of water.

When The nurse gave me a little bottle to take away for a sample I said “Do you want the sample from the 2am, 4:30am or 7am wee!?“ She said which ever is convenient :D

    Metformin alternatives

Hi @masueuk I‘m sorry to hear of your stressful situation :( I wonder why your GP has put you on such a high dose of Metformin, your BG readings look good to me, perhaps you could ask him/her what the reasoning is? It must be so distressing having to go to the loo several times a day as well...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

FBG 6.0 at 7:30. Very often 2 fingers on my right hand are numb and cold when I wake up and then I get pins and needles. I’m not sure if it’s something to do with my aching shoulder or from my back but I wish it would go away! The feeling comes back after a few minutes of getting up. :rolleyes...
