What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Well I haven't even opened the packet yet, but this is the plan for tonight. 10.5g of carbs in the entire packet and I will be sharing with my son. Regular rice for him, and I'm going to give the cauliflower stuff a go. I've had these Aldi curry kits before, and they're good.

    Keto the best way forward?

Hiya, Just click on your user name at the top of the page (next to the email icon) and choose 'signature', and it'll add whatever you put there to the end of each post. On Patient Access, look for 'test results' down the left hand side. I don't think all GP surgeries use it the same, but with...

    Keto the best way forward?

I'm a bit late to the party, but see if you can sign up for an online portal such as Patient Access via your GP. I get results back on that before my GP even gets around to contacting me. Actual figures along with, where applicable, target ranges, and a big green 'normal' or red 'abnormal' flag...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.8 @ 8:15. Had to use Mr Stabby on 4 different fingers to get a sample. New lancet, too.

    Camping Help!

How about some dried meats, such as biltong and jerky? Both are easy to store, low carb enough to be keto friendly, and don't need refrigeration. I'm quite partial to the pre-sliced packs of chorizo as a snack. These do need refrigerating (at least they're stored in the fridge in the shop) but...

Type 2 Does anyone have any experience on metformin?

I'm in a similar boat. Diagnosed pre-diabetic 10 years ago (though they either didn't make a big deal of it, or I ignored and forgot about it) and properly diabetic so in the last few weeks. I have the prescription for Metformin sitting here, unfilled. I looked at the side effects, and decided...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.5 @ 7am, and my lowest weight since buying my Bluetooth scales. If I didn't have toothache, it'd be a great start to the day.

Really annoyed by NHS Diabetes prevention program

I suspect the position with the NHS is that they're ignoring something that obviously works in favour of going down the path of least likely litigation. They seem to be concerned that going very low carb can lead to health problems of its own. They're also still fixated on fat being the enemy...

Lager ... Or red wine ?

Oh absolutely. I just don't enjoy any of those as much as a cold beer. So if I can have a moderate number of beers and still pull in decent numbers, that's going to be my social drinking strategy. From a weight loss perspective, I know I'd be better off cutting out beer completely. I've...

Lager ... Or red wine ?

I planned to try that the other night, but essentially having a few beers and staying awake long enough to test just didn't work out. So sensible readings 2 hours later, and fast asleep by 4. Different strategy on Sunday. I had a couple of afternoon drinks around 3pm, ate around 5, and tested...

Lager ... Or red wine ?

I did go nuts with chocolate over lockdown, and had been eating excess amounts of sweet stuff for quite a while. But it's a huge revelation to me too that sugar is basically pure carbohydrate, and that all non-fibre carbs are as bad as each other. I always thought I was being really good having...

    SD Codefree blood glucose meter

Watching with interest, as I've plumped for the GlucoRx Q. I liked the compactness of it, and it was the cheapest meter on Amazon (though not after factoring in that you only got 10 strips with it, when you seem to get 50 with most others) while seeming to be a reputable brand. I like it...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

300g of home made bolognaise, microwaved from the freezer. No pasta with it. Tested before and after, and it's raised my BS a whole 0.2mmol/L 2 hours later. I thought the tinned tomatoes might make it worse than that. Happy days. I shall be making a large batch of this and freezing it, I think.

Wart on base of foot Issue

I think 'plantar wart' and 'verruca' are just different names for the same thing. They're just regular warts, but because you're walking on them, they grow into the skin on the underside of your foot, rather than creating the characteristic lump of a normal wart. Some hurt and some don't. The...

Wart on base of foot Issue

They deeply blistered the skin every single time, and made walking unbearable. To the point where I was seriously considering using disabled spaces when parking to go shopping, because every single step hurt that much. I didn't actually do it though. I just toughed it out. When the blisters...

    Bs readings

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/random-plasma-glucose-test.html It seems even non-diabetics can spike as high as 11.0mmol/L on a random test. I wouldn't worry too much since you tested less than an hour after a substantial meal.

Wart on base of foot Issue

I've got a couple of these on my left foot. A few years ago, I went through having them frozen off by my GP. It got rid of some, but made it so painful to walk for several days afterwards that I just learned to live with the ones that remained. I've had some success with one removal product...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Woke up starving and ate a couple of pre-cooked sausages out of the fridge before remembering to test. So 6.7 at 9:30am, 2 hours after food.
